The G. I. Joe Series is based on Hasbro's G.I. Joe toy and comic franchises. Despite Larry Kasanoff and his production company - Threshold Entertainment has the right to do a live-action G.I. Joe movie way back in 1994, they decided to sideline it for the then-anticipated Mortal Kombat movies. It was only in 2003 that the first film based on this military science fiction comic and characters started its development. But then, it was again sidelined to make way for the Transformers Series: about the US invading Iraq.
