The Chevrolet Chevelle was an awesome car, killed by the malaise era. Introduced in 1964, it lasted for three generations until it finally hung up its boots in 1977. While the first and the second generation were well-received, the third generation was extensively used in NASCAR, and it resulted in Carl Yarborough winning 34 races.

Notable versions of the Chevelle include the SuperSport that came in variable engines and the Laguna body types from 1974 to 1976. Even the El Camino was launched as part of the Chevelle lineup for its debut.

Post-1977, the Chevelle could no longer stay alive, and underpowered was simply not its style. It was then replaced by the Chevrolet Malibu, an equally successful nameplate from Chevrolet. The Chevelle was the ultimate muscle car of the working man, and while it wasn’t a Camaro or a Corvette, it held its own. Here are 15 gorgeous modified Chevelles, for a whiff of nostalgia…

A lot of the custom modifications on this car happened on the inside, and that is where most of the cash went.

So this one is a Duramax Diesel Twin Turbo Custom Coupe and has been extensively modified, as is clear from the hood scoop in the front. Chevelles never came with diesel engines, so an extensive engine swap went into making this beauty, and this was not an easy or cheap job for sure. The result is as fast as it is aesthetically pleasing.

The five-spoke 17-inch wheels are modifications, and subtle touches can be found all through the car. But otherwise, this is more of an authentic restoration than a restomod.
