Chevrolet has opened the road to electrification for its best-selling nameplate, the Silverado. Joining the likes of the Ford F-150 Lightning, GMC Hummer EV, Tesla Cybertruck, and Rivian R1T is the all-new 2024 Silverado EV, which will hit the pickup market as early as 2023.

According to GM, its very own Ultium Platform underpins the Silverado EV, making it an all-new fully electric pickup truck designed from ground up. It employs a new body architecture that leverages the available 24-module Ultium battery pack. Thanks to this structural design, the Silverado EV would still be able to offer the strength, durability and performance the nameplate is always known for.

Set for launch in spring 2023, the WT (Work Truck) model will feature GM’s longest-range battery that will allow the EV to travel more than 400 miles on a full charge. Available $39,900 MSRP, the Silverado EV WT will have the capability to meet the needs of fleet customers. It will offer 510 hp of output and 615 lb-ft of torque, with the ability to tow up to 8,000 lbs and haul up to 1,200 lbs. Chevrolet will follow up the WT with a fleet model that could tow up to 20,000 lbs with the max tow package.

In fall 2023, GM will start selling a fully loaded RST First Edition model (also offering a 400-mile range) for $105,000 (MSRP). The front- and rear-drive motors (e4WD system) of the RST will offer 664 hp of max output and 780 lb-ft of torque on Wide Open Watts Mode, allowing the pickup to sprint from zero to 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds.

With support from Automatic Adaptive Air Suspension and four-wheel steer capability, the RST can tow up to 10,000 lbs and haul up to 1,300 lbs. Although the RST will have a 5-foot-11-inch bed, it can offer over nine feet of storage thanks to the available Multi-Flex Midgate. With the available Multi-Flex Tailgate, the storage capacity increases to 10 feet and 10 inches.

Interestingly, customers can also use the Silverado EV as a charging site as the pickup can offer up to 10.2 kW of all-electric power accessible via 10 outlets (max). The Silverado can also charge another EV.

Other models such as the Trail Boss will follow the WT and RST after launch. All Silverado EVs will be Crew Cab models.
