Chevrolet has slightly refreshed its eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette supercar. As it is said in the press release, the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette will receive some upgrades with the change of the model year. The coupe and convertible will get a modified engine and new accents in appearance, as well as a new special performance edition called the IMSA GTLM Championship Edition. It will be dedicated to the racing victories of the mid-engined Corvette.

For the model year 2022, the Chevrolet Corvette's exterior color range will be replenished with three new shades of gray, coffee, and orange. In addition, the supercar will be offered a new compact spoiler (Chevrolet calls it "low-profile") and a front splitter.

The stock 6.2-liter V8 will retain its specifications. The engine will have 502 hp and 637 Nm of torque. However, the engine will have the direct injection fuel system reworked, as well as the improved engine calibration and an enhanced Active Fuel Management range. The purpose of this optimization is not officially specified, but it can be assumed that its main task is to reduce fuel consumption.

A special edition dedicated to the Corvettes from the IMSA racing series will be available as an optional package. It can be ordered for a standard Corvette in expensive trim levels with a set of modifications Z51 Performance. For $6,595, such a supercar will receive a special livery for the body (in gray or yellow tones), a rear wing, original wheels, and a special interior trim in the same style as the body.

In addition, the models will be equipped with sports seats, yellow seat belts, contrasting decor, and a plaque between the seats. Cars will only go left-hand drive. In total, no more than a thousand of these Corvettes will be assembled.

Supercars of the new model year will go on sale in the United States on July 1 at a price of $62,195. The pre-reform model can be ordered for $59,900.

During this year, Chevrolet may add three modifications to the Corvette family at once. It is expected that they will receive new power plants: an especially powerful naturally aspirated V8, a turbocharged version of the same engine, and its twin with an electric motor, which can develop up to 1014 hp.
