The Chevrolet Suburban has become the first car to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The SUV joins legendary actors, directors, writers, and characters on the famed boardwalk. The star is located on Hollywood Boulevard and Highland under the Dolby Arches, an area adjacent to the Walk of Fame, and was presented Thursday by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and unveiled at a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard.

According to General Motors, the Chevy Suburban began its Hollywood career in 1952, and has appeared in over 1,750 films and television series. The vehicle has been featured in at least one TV series every year since 1956, and at least one film per year since 1960. “For six decades the Chevrolet Suburban has been Hollywood’s longest-working actor,” said CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Rana Ghadban. “Appearing in classic feature films and must-see television shows, the Suburban is a well-established industry mainstay."

The Walk of Fame runs along Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles, California, and has over 2,500 stars embedded in the sidewalks. The vehicle’s award is located adjacent to the Walk, because Chevrolet is allowed to use its logo on it, which is not permitted on Walk of Fame stars.

1 The Process

In order to get a star, someone must nominate them, and "the celebrity or his/her management” must agree to the process, explains the official website. “If there is no letter of agreement included from the celebrity or his/her representative, the committee will not accept the application." The nominee has to be active in entertainment or previously active in the industry. In 2019, 34 of about 300 applicants were selected to receive a star. Once chosen, there is a $50,000 fee to cover expenses.
