Drag races attract competition of all kinds, often including modified versions of cars intended for everyday use. The YouTube channel DREAMGOATINC has a video showing one such example when several Chevrolet Vega subcompact cars take on several different competitors at the Maryland International Raceway. The series of drag races, which also include Chevrolet Camaro sports cars and dragsters, offers a glimpse into how diverse drag racing can be.

Chevrolet Vega Drag Race

At the start of the video, a red and a black Chevrolet Vega line up to compete against each other. The cars do burnouts and produce a little smoke before lining up at the start before racing down the strip.

They take off nearly equally and as they move away from the camera, it is difficult to tell which car will have the advantage. The camera does not show the result of the race but it's safe to assume that whichever car won, it was a close race.

In the next race, a blue Vega takes on a dragster. This race is much less competitive as the dragster takes off with a noticeably higher level of velocity than the Vega can pull off and easily beats it down the length of the 1/4 mile.

Such is the case in the next race as well when a black Vega does up against a green dragster. Much as was the case the first time, the green dragster leaves the starting line with a noticeably larger amount of force. While the end of the race isn't shown on camera, based on the way it started, it's another safe assumption that the dragster was the victorious racer in this bout as well.

GM Versus GM

Later, it is a GM versus GM race when a Chevrolet Vega goes against a Pontiac Firebird. The Firebird appears to take a competitively close lead against the Vega though further down the strip the Vega looks to close the gap slightly between itself and the quick Pontiac.

While the Vega doesn't have the best reputation for performance, it just shows that anything is possible with a few modifications at the drag strip.
