Ford was arguably the first to come out with the heavily modified factory pickup truck. It was a major success for the company and their competitors began building these types of trucks. Ram quickly followed with the RAM TRX and the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 is the next in line to try to dethrone the King Raptor. YouTube channel The Fast Lane Truck pits the two trucks against each other for a comparison of the two in a series of drag races and 0-60 runs.
A Tale Older Than Time
The Ford VS Chevy pickup truck comparison isn't anything new. However, a drag race between a 2022 F150 Raptor with a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 against a 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 with a 6.2L V8 engine is new, and that's exactly how we start this video. After our host finishes setting up the Raptor, by putting it in sport mode with traction off and 4-wheel drive, we are able to see the two trucks take off at the 2:33 mark.
Race One Race Won
The race begins with both trucks lumbering off. This is not surprising since both trucks weigh approximately 6000 lbs each! Once the turbos of the Raptor light up he just immediately takes off. Our host looks back at the ZR2 in the rearview and tells us the Raptor is just walking away from the Chevy. They finish the race with the Raptor easy three-car lengths ahead of the ZR2. The Raptor receives a quarter-mile time of 14.99 seconds while the ZR2 does 16.84 seconds. No doubt that the Raptor was the quicker one here.
Much More Of The Same
Drag race number two is more of the same. The ZR2 gets a 1-second head start and wins the race but the times still point to Raptor being quicker. The 0-60 times also prove everyone's suspicions with an average of two runs (opposite ways) coming in at 6.4 seconds. The ZR2's zero to sixty times average 7.6 seconds. This is not surprising since the Ford Raptor is the more powerful vehicle. Despite missing the 2 extra cylinders that the Chevy Silverado has, the Ford Raptor then is quite obviously still the undisputed champion.
