Bentley has long been associated with premium mobility, offering as a sportier alternative to Rolls-Royce. Volkswagen now owns the brand. Since 1998, this ownership has helped update the product range by sharing some platforms, powertrains, and parts with the corporate parent.

The Flying Spur and Mulsanne sedans, Continental coupe, and Bentayga SUV are among the models available. All these cars are large and strong, designed to pamper their owners and make a statement.

Bentley Motors Limited, based in Crewe, England, was founded by W. O. Bentley in 1919 in Cricklewood, North London, and is best known for winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, and 1930.

Rolls Royce on the other hand, have their own unique way of appealing to customers. In 1998, BMW established Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited as a fully owned subsidiary after licencing the Rolls-Royce brand name and badge from Rolls-Royce Holdings plc as well as purchasing the Spirit of Ecstasy and Rolls-Royce grille shape trademarks from Volkswagen AG.

Rather than offering sportier vehicles, Rolls Royce pride themselves on purveying some of the most luxurious and opulent vehicles. Their vehicles are amazing to drive and amazing to be driven in too, unlike Bentley as many would agree.

Bentley's Most Popular Rides

Bentley offer cars that all look stunning and perform exceptionally well, however their top 3 cars we would argue are the Bentley Bentayga, the Continental GT V8 and the Continental GTC.

The Bentayga:

The Bentayga is Bentley’s flagship SUV, a big beastly car available with the W12 engine and the V8 engine too. The Bentayga has a size similar to the BMW X5 and the Audi Q7. A plush interior with go-anywhere capabilities makes this car one of Bentley’s most desirable vehicles.

The Continental GT V8

The Bentley Continental GT V8 looks as menacing as it sounds. Sporting a powerful V8 engine and luxurious interior, this car really does challenge the Rolls Royce Wraith. Few automobiles, if any, can match the Bentley Continental GT V8's performance, elegance, and comfort.

Its wide range of capabilities looks to be unaffected by compromise, earning it all five stars. It's not just the best Continental yet, and a wonderful entry point into the line, but it's also one of the best modern Bentleys.

Price is unlikely to be a major consideration for prospective Bentley buyers. However, the Continental GT V8's introduction in the UK comes with a £10,000 price reduction over the flagship W12 variant. It's not cheap, at £151,800, but it's the best way to get into the Continental line up.

The Continental GTC

The third car that we think is Bentley’s most popular car is the Continental GTC. This car encompasses all of the GT V8’s options but is also available with a W12 engine. It also comes standard with a convertible roof. A hugely desirable option that is amazing in the summer.

The Best Of Rolls-Royce

As well as Bentley, Rolls Royce also pride themselves with luxurious vehicles. They focus more on luxury than performance as aforementioned, and their clientele are a vivid representation of that. People who own Rolls Royce’s are very wealthy and tend to be driven in the car rather than driving it. We would say that their top 3 cars are the Ghost, Cullinan and the dawn.

The Rolls Royce Ghost

The Ghost embodies modern day luxury with a compact, high performing engine and shell. The Ghost replicates the bigger Rolls Royce Phantom - yet omits the bulky and ‘boaty’ feeling a phantom has. Available in only a V12 engine, the ghost comfortably sits 5 fully grown adults with enough space for luggage. A decent Ghost would cost in excess of £110,000.

The Rolls Royce Cullinan

The Cullinan. A massive SUV which competes against the Bentley Bentayga, it oozes with luxury and a plush interior. The Cullinan is as brazen as it gets, A hefty £200,000 price tags ensures that your wealth is demonstrated in the loudest and most classy way possible!

The Rolls Royce Dawn

This is our personal favourite. The Dawn represents freedom and class. It retains that luxurious and wealthy persona that the Ghost and Cullinan have, however has its very own unique twist. Yes, it’s a V12 convertible. Competing against the Bentley Continental GTC, the Dawn alongside its brother the Wraith, really is in a world of its own.

Final Thoughts

We personally feel in love with Bentley Continental GT - we just love that unique feel that a Bentley has, and we do feel that Bentley’s are more practical. However, we’ll leave the difficult decision of which Brand is better, to you. With ample amount of power and with a Rolls Royce like interior, the Bentley Continental GT is our personal favourite.
