A paint job sometimes defines a car's personality. While some people may not care about the color finish of their cars, other owners do. This is why some cars get repainted with another color after changing hands. Just like this restored 1969 Dodge Charger R/T SE, which was a recipient of a beautiful, tuxedo black metallic paint job.

Blue Is Out, Black Is In For This Charger

According to RestoMods—current owner of this 1969 Dodge Charger R/T SE—this classic car was wrapped in blue finish when they first acquired it. After decoding the car's factory build sheet, they discovered that it came off the assembly line as an authentic Charger R/T SE originally wrapped in white finish and tan vinyl top.

When RestoMods acquired this classic car, it was finished in blue; although it wasn't known whether the Charger R/T SE was also repainted in another color prior to it. However gorgeous the previous blue finish was, RestoMods simply didn't like it. They felt that this Charger R/T SE should be repainted in a color that is more iconic—black.

Repainting The Charger Was A Meticulous Process

Eager to make color changes in the already mechanically restored and modified Charger R/T SE, RestoMods tapped the services of Chapparone Auto Body and Paint. The color of choice was tuxedo black metallic, which features metallic flakes that shine when hit by the sun. Nonetheless, this wasn't just a simple "paint here, paint there" job; all other parts aside from the body of the Charger R/T SE had to be removed first.

Disassembling the Charger R/T SE might have been a satisfying moment. This is because the Charger R/T SE comes powered by a stroked 440 Magnum engine, as bored over 500 ci. It comes loaded with several aftermarket parts, including American Racing Torque Thrust wheels shod with Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tires. By the way, this classic car features a leather/suede interior with custom console, Dakota Digital gauges, and Classic Air A/C.

The Final Result: An Elegant Classic Charger In Metallic Black

When the meticulous custom paint job was finished, all the parts that were removed were put back together into the Charger R/T SE. Once the reassembly process was completed, a stunning and simply astonishing Charger R/T SE rolled out of the garage in an elegantly astonishing tuxedo black metallic finish.
