To find an old muscle car in the woods is one thing. To be able to restore it to its former glory and get it on the road again is another thing entirely. And it is probably something very few of us could do. Not so with Chris Herndon however. A car guy all his life, he always wanted to start a speed shop of his own. And just by chance, he found one of the best classic cars. This 1973 Plymouth Satellite was just sitting in the woods rotting away somewhere. This car now serves as the rolling business card for his shop, and he has taken it to Holley's event, the Holley MoParty, to showcase it.

A Total Rebuild

Chris hasn’t just done the bare minimum to get this car running. This Satellite has gone through a full rebuild and has become Chris's baby. His company is called HP Racing, and this is the car that started it all. After having raced the car for a while and blown the first motor he had in it, that was when the decision was made to give it a total rebuild and put in a Gen-III-Hemi engine in this ProCharged and ultra-clean machine. On the drag strip, Chris is hoping the car will get him in the high 9s.

Found It With A Fence Post Going Through Rear Floor Panel

When he originally got it from the woods, it had a fence post going through the whole rear floor panel! That certainly did not help make it the easiest candidate for restoration but Chris got his teeth into it. What was also originally an auto metallic bronze paint scheme became an awesome gloss black finish by the time the full restoration was completed.

Set To Go Down The Strip

Chris hasn’t taken it down the strip just yet mainly because the car is so fresh. It has barely run in, and it needed thrashing in order to get to the Holley MoParty! He simply came to the event in 2020 for a bit of fun and to get his name out there, and with the help of his car, he certainly will have done that! Hopefully, when things are much more normal in 2021, he hopes to get the car out on the track at last.
