Soccer fans know that their favorite athletes have some of the most spectacular, luxurious and fastest vehicles ever built. Some soccer stars, like David Beckham, have periods in their lives in which they are in love with a special car brand. Beckham, for example, had his Ferrari period at the beginning of his professional career. Others, like Zlatan Ibrahimović, are still in the Ferrari phase, while some are not collecting a specific brand but aggressive vehicles that standout thanks to their performance and power.

English soccer player Wayne Rooney, for instance, has been driving various incredible vehicles, including a Range Rover Overfinch, a Bentley Continental, an Aston Martin Vanquish S, an Audi RS6 Avant and a spectacular Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder. But despite this impressive collection, nothing stands out like the Lamborghini Gallardo.

The Italian automaker manufactured the two-door coupe between 2008 and 2013, and Lambo introduced it at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show. Apart from the sleek design, other qualities that made this Lambo stand out were its power and performance. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 could generate a maximum power of 552 hp at 8,000 rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm. Additionally, the 5.2-liter V10 engine could help the vehicle reach the top speed of 202 miles per hour.

It could also accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and from 0 to 124 miles per hour in 11.8 seconds.

“Rooney's Gallardo is an animal, hiding a V10 engine under the hood and stamping 552 brake horsepower down to go along with it, showing that it's far from just a pretty face,” says Bleacher Report.

When it comes to design and styling, there are few automakers that can compete with Lamborghini, and the Gallardo 560-4 Coupé is truly one of a kind, being “an aggressive muscular shape with simple, elegant contours,” according to Lamborghini. The Italian car manufacturer has redesigned the front end and rear, taking some style notes from the Murciélago LP 640 and Reventón. As for the front end, this stands out thanks to the triangular and trapezoidal forms. Meanwhile, the enlarged air intakes in front of the front wheels and the new, 19-inch "Apollo polished" alloy wheels painted in a matte black color enhance the aggressive design further. Another exceptional feature is the "Iniezione Diretta Stratificata" direct fuel injection system, which optimizes performance and improves efficiency, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

As for weight distribution, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 impresses again with its 43 percent on the front axle and 57 percent on the rear. Naturally, the aerodynamic shape, the elimination of embellishments and the embracing of a minimalist design improves the performance of this Lambo model. As for the frame of the car, Lamborghini used a structural aluminum space frame, based on aluminum extruded parts welded to aluminum cast joint elements.

Aluminium is much lighter than sheet steel and this is why the Gallardo LP560-4 is produced with a body in a much lighter but nevertheless more stiff structure,” says Lamborghini Registry.

This Is Why Wayne Rooney Chose This Supercar

Rooney loves beautiful cars, so we like to believe that he purchased the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder because it was an impressive beast. But it might even be down to peer pressure, as most of his teammates owned high-performance sports cars. In fact, there is an episode that does a good job of illustrating this idea. After owning several posh sports cars, Rooney decided to give Carlos Tevez his Lamborghini because he didn't appreciate the way other players made fun of the Argentine for not owning a supercar. Back then, Tevez drove an Audi supplied by the club, and according to various sources, Wayne Rooney redefined generosity when he gifted his Lamborghini to Tevez. It seems like all the team players at Manchester United drove Ferraris and Lambos, and Tevez didn’t seem bothered by that, and didn’t want to spend his money on an expensive supercar. But seeing how everyone mocked Tevez, Rooney jumped to his rescue and gifted him his supercar.

At Manchester United training, players would turn up with a Ferrari or a Lamborghini,” Tevez told ESPN, per Marca. “Everyone, even the worst player, would have a Ferrari. I turned up in the Audi that the club gave you, and they all bugged me about it, as if it was a Fiat 600. I spoke to Rooney and, the crazy guy that he is, he told me ‘take the Lamborghini’.”

Tevez continued: “I went, without registering, around Manchester with this car, he gave it to me.”
