Watch: Insane Compilation Of Drag Racing Fails

Drag race fails can be almost as entertaining as the races themselves. Check out these aborted runs.

Drag Race Fails

Drag races sometimes end in failure, which can often be just as entertaining as a good race.

Once again, we have Wheels.ca to thank for this wonderful compilation of drag race fails in rainy British Columbia, Canada. All that moisture must get into the asphalt since those muscle cars spin out almost as often as they shoot down the quarter-mile drag strip.

Our first matchup between a Camaro and a Charger shows you just how important traction can be. A proper pair of drag radial tires are a necessity for drag racing, otherwise you get exactly what happened to this poor Charger: rear wheels spinning uselessly for a good 3-4 seconds. As hilarious as it is to see a Charger skid down the track like a hovercraft, it can turn into a dangerous scenario if the driver completely loses control.

After we see a Mustang beat a Challenger which suffered the same problem, we come to a shootout between a Nissan GT-R NISMO and a BMW M3. Both these cars are all-wheel-drive, so we don’t really expect to see much wheelspin here. But somehow the GT-R driver spins just enough to lose control, falling off the left-hand side of the track and then overcorrecting to careen onto the right side and then slam into the retaining wall.

Unfortunately for the GT-R, the entire front end of the car was ripped off in the impact. Now we’ll never know who would have won between the two AWD juggernauts.

Out next Challenger versus Mustang matchup shows us the importance of warming up your tires before liftoff. The Challenger driver seems to have difficulty during the critical pre-race burnout, which means his tires might as well have been made of ice by the time the green light shines down.

The Challenger doesn’t crash, but he certainly spins his rear wheels for nearly half the distance of the track.

With great power doesn’t necessarily come great drag race performance. We see that from a few Challengers that try to put their awesome HEMI V8s to work and just fail to find any purchase on the pavement. One gets beaten by a Focus RS who’s driver was so sleepy he missed the start of the race by a full second.

There are many lessons to be learned in these clips, so heed them well if you plan on drag racing.
