NAWA's new entry into the young electric motorcycle market, the Racer, is set to make its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this January. CES is more known for new computer related technology but the advances promised for the NAWA Racer will make the all electric bike right at home. Ahead of CES, NAWA has provided an early look at their electric bike.

The bike design is influenced by the cafe racers that were popular in the UK during the 60s and 70s when hot rodders would strip down production bikes of any extra weight and modify the riding position forward in search of the 'ton,' the ability to reach 100mph on small single cylinder bikes.

Hybrid, of Sorts

NAWA bills the Racer as a hybrid, but rather than referring to the marriage of two different kinds of propulsion, the hybrid refers to the battery packs. In addition to the traditional 9kWh lithium battery pack is also as a .1kWh ultracapiciter battery that recharges via regeneration giving the bike extended city mileage claimed to be around 186 miles versus 93 on the highway.

The Ton

The Racer possesses the high acceleration normal for both motorcycles and electric vehicles, making the hustle to 60mph from a stop in 3 seconds, the same pace as Harley Davidson's LiveWire. In another nod to its cafe racer looks, it tops out with a max speed of 100mph. No word yet on price or the official release date.
