Volkswagen sure created a buzz when they revealed the new ID.Buzz, an electric MPV with a design inspired by the funky 60s Kombi camper van. It is set to make its debut in 2022 in Europe, while America has to wait a bit more until 2023.

The original Microbus was known for its variable seating configurations, and fans of the iconic van are in for a treat, as the ID.Buzz's cabin can also be transformed into a workstation, a mobile lounge, or even an overnight capsule. Furthermore, it has a surprisingly powerful electric motor with 369 hp that takes the funky van from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds. It's really quite a transformation, since the original Kombi van even has trouble reaching 60 mph.

8 Kia EV6

The EV6 is Kia's first attempt at making a dedicated electric vehicle platform, and they look set to get the formula right the first time. The luxury EV not only has striking looks, but also promises to deliver an engaging drive together with its ultra-fast charging capability that only adds up to the already impressive battery range that the car has.

According to Kia, the EV6 could reach over 310 miles before running out of juice. And as mentioned, the ultra-fast charging capability of the car means it could add up to 62 miles of range by simply plugging it in for less than 5 minutes.

7 GMC Hummer EV

GMC clearly made a complete transformation of the Hummer for the future, as the SUV that was known to be a notorious gas-guzzler, now consumes no fuel at all. The new Hummer EV is scheduled to hit the market by mid-2022, and honestly, we can't wait to get our hands on this iconic SUV.

Following the footsteps of its gas-guzzling predecessor, the Hummer EV is big in power, as it's reported to have 1000 hp from its three electric motors, giving the big SUV a colossal pulling potential, especially with an estimated 11,500 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, it doesn't fall short in the range either, as the Hummer EV is estimated to reach 350 miles before exhausting all of its battery power.

6 Mercedes-Benz EQB

Mercedes is set to cater more to the masses with the reveal of the brand-new EQB crossover, the pure-electric version of the GLB. It arrives with a 260-mile range, and has an estimated price tag of $68,000.

The all-electric seven-seater compact SUV from Mercedes has two variants — the EQB 300 4Matic, which has 225 hp, and the EQB 350 4Matic with a more powerful 288 hp motor.

5 Subaru Solterra

Subaru's first-ever all-electric crossover has been revealed, and it's named the Solterra. The new EV is expected to set the bar high for future electric crossovers, as it continues on Subaru's DNA of producing cars that are made for exploring the great outdoors since 1997.

This car is also a product of the joint development relationship of Subaru and Toyota. And as a result, the Solterra shares its underpinnings with Toyota's bZ4X electric crossover, which we'll get to later. However, the Solterra targets a different audience compared to the bZ4X, as its X-Mode feature means it retains the off-roading capabilities of its gas-powered ancestors.

4 Rivian R1S

Rivian is a relatively new car manufacturer that's based in Michigan. They clearly have ambitious targets in the electric vehicle industry, as they revealed their very own R1S SUV that's poised to directly compete with Tesla's Model X for the three-row, all-electric SUV segment.

The R1S boasts an electric motor with 800 hp, which gives it a 0 to 60 mph time of only 3 seconds, making the car accelerate like a supercar. Furthermore, the motor is powered by a 135 kWh battery pack that gives the car 300 miles of driving range.

3 Toyota bZ4X

As mentioned earlier, the Toyota bZ4X shares many parts with the Subaru Solterra. However, the Toyota aims a different market compared to the Subaru, as the bZ4X wants to continue the gas-fed RAV4's legacy in being an affordable and reliable crossover SUV.

Unlike the Solterra, the bZ4X has an optional steering yoke, similar to the ones seen in Tesla models. Furthermore, the Toyota also boasts a different interior design that poses a stark contrast in personality compared to the Subaru's conventional and straightforward cabin.

Taking design inspirations from the Land Rover Defender, the Bollinger B1 is all about simplicity, as its boxy design and utilitarian interior completely separates it from its rivals that are loaded with all kinds of technological gadgetry inside.

Instead, the B1 focuses on off-road capability and its ability to serve as a workhorse. With 614 hp from its four electric motors, the B1 has plenty of pulling power with front and rear locking differentials, and it can haul up to 5,200 lbs of cargo together with a 7,500-lb towing capacity.

Volkswagen says they have achieved to fuse together an SUV and a Coupe with their ID.5 sports-electric SUV. It's the first vehicle built on Volkswagen's modular MEB platform to become available in North America, and this car clearly represents VW's effort to dominate the emerging EV market.

The ID.5 comes in two models — the standard ID.5, and the premium ID.5 GTX. The standard model is the rear-wheel-drive version with only 174 hp, and could reach up to 320 miles of driving range. The GTX version, on the other hand, is the all-wheel-drive version of the ID.5 that has 299 hp. Essentially, the GTX variant is what the GTI models of the past used to be, the sportier models of Volkswagen.
