Have you ever wondered why almost all cars have four wheels? In general, there are plenty of logical reasons to answer the question. First of all, four wheels are the most reasonable number that the car or a vehicle can have, which ensures stability. However, it is not obligatory to have only four wheels, and there are many cars and vehicles that have more than 4 (5 or 6) wheels, and that’s what we’re going to talk about.

At least, that is all the information that we have for this car as it hasn’t been in production or on the market. Eliica was created by a group of engineers at Keio University in Tokyo, guided by Professor H. Shimizu. Eliica reached 230 mph although the engineers wanted to reach a top speed of 250 mph. The car speeds from zero to sixty in only 4 seconds, and it is faster than the Porsche 911.

9 TREKOL 6x6

TREKOL 6x6 (officially known as TREKOL-39294) is a vehicle made in RussiaThe car has a fiberglass body that decreases the weight to about 2.80 tons. Off-road is where the vehicle shines and shows off its great abilities.

The fiberglass body is super lightweight, moreover, it also has low conductivity, which makes it suitable for driving in extremely low or high temperatures. TREKOLs also has other advantages as they have a water stream which allows the car to navigate in water. The value of this monster starts from $49,000 but rises to $56,000, including some “bonuses” like an air pump per wheel, heated seats, and air conditioning.

8 Hennessey VelociRaptor 6X6

This six-wheeled vehicle, whose daddy is a Ford F 150, which is the best selling truck in the United States since the 70s and it offers high-performance. However, this was not enough for J. Hennessey so, with his great team he released an updated F 150, which was also called "VelociRaptor."

After, Hennessey developed a six-wheeled updated version of VelociRaptor. As the standard vehicle, VelociRaptor started life as Raptor F 150. After the changes, this machine could go from 0 to sixty in approximately 5 seconds, and it is faster than the VelociRaptor. These are great results, but the changes added a thousand pounds to the weight, which made the vehicle approximately seven thousand pounds.

7 ‘Self-Parking' Packard Cavalier

Parallel parking causes some difficulties for most people. So a guy, whose name was Brooks Walker, wanted to make a change in the way people parallel park by having the vehicle do it on its own. In general, self-parking cars have cameras or sensors that help operate the car to get it to park by itself.

Brooks created his self-parking car using technology that was accessible at that time and created a way that utilized the spare tire. The idea of this technology was having the tire connected to the passenger’s side rear tire. During parking, this 5th wheel would be deployed and it would lift the backside of the automobile and roll it to the curb.

6 Avtoros Shaman

Here is another interesting vehicle from Russia. The country is known for its many things, like cold beet soup, but not much for building cars and vehicles. But, take a look at the eight-wheeled Avtoros Shaman.

This vehicle only has a top speed of 50 mph. Although not much, it’s good considering it is a huge vehicle that weighs 4 tons (eight thousand pounds). The Avtoros Shaman accomplishes unbelievable things off-road with its powerful wheels because they can regulate the air pressure. Furthermore, it can swim, and each wheel has its steering which allows it to go sidelong. But the price is beyond the budget of most as its price is $150,000.

5 Panther SIX

With a huge V8 8.2 liter, twin-turbo engine putting out 600 bhp it is said that the Panther SIX could reach 200 mph. 4 Covini C6W

The plan to build the Covini C6W came about in the 70s by Ferruccio Covini (the creator of the Italian manufacturing company, Covini Engineering). Ferruccio Covini felt that six wheels on a sports car would reduce the risk of accidents and aquaplaning or even braking.

However, the project was canceled because of development problems. So, the very first Covini C6W was at the 2004 Salon International de l'Auto, and after a year, the company represented a slightly revised version of C6W. After that, the company continued building four to six of the C6W a year. The sportscar had a rear-mounted eight-cylinder, 4200 cc engine able to reach 186 mph.

3 Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6X6

The Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 is a military car, and it is a six-wheeled variant of the Mercedes G 320 CDI, that was created for Australian army. It looks like the Geländewagen. This six-wheeled model has five electronic locks for the differential and locks up all six wheels at once.

At first sight, the Bureko 6x6 looks like a Hummer, but the creator was not motivated by the Hummer. In fact, the car that was made by a Czech manufacturer called Bureone was motivated by the Land Rover.

However, the vehicle itself is created from a Chevrolet Silverado. The car can reach a maximum of 112 mph. It can go from 60 in only 10 seconds. Francis Janes, who was Bureko’s creator, created the first prototype without having any engineering or mechanics skills or in design, but as we can see, the results were very successful. They sold almost 20 vehicles, most often to the UAE or to Russia.
