Concept cars are often very exciting for those who are enthusiastic about cars and the brands that are coming up with new technological inventions and innovations. As time goes on, EVs are increasingly establishing their hold on the car industry, especially as regulations are changing in many countries. This has resulted in not just large traditional car manufacturers but also elite sports car brands jumping on the EV bandwagon with offerings of their own.

Thanks to this, there have been plenty of EV releases in recent years that have been both exciting and interesting. Brands like Tesla and Audi are looking to edge out the competition while startups such as Rivian are out to completely revolutionize the industry. The Aspark Owl is being sold as the first Japanese full-electric hypercar. The car is hugely anticipated and there will only be 50 units launched around the world. The car is said to produce 1984 bhp, which is astounding, and there are four electric motors to make this all happen.

Aspark is currently claiming that the car will go 0-60 mph in 1.69 seconds - beating the current claimed acceleration rate of the Tesla Model S Plaid (which does 0-60 mph in 1.99 seconds). The claimed top speed is also 269 mph, making it incredibly fast and incredibly futuristic. Prospective buyers will need a good few million to buy it.

7 Genesis Essentia

The Genesis Essentia is a concept car and it is very unclear whether there is any production of the car actually going on. There is the possibility of it arriving in 2021, but we shouldn't get our hopes up. It is a luxury vehicle that looks very sleek and aerodynamic.

Being a part of Hyundai's luxury brand, the Essentia would be the first EV from this side of the company. The car certainly looks brilliant and it looks to be a great performance car. Some expect the car to arrive in 2023, but we shouldn't hold our breath with this great-sounding car.

6 BMW iNext

The BMW iNext is due to enter production in 2021. It is shaping up to become a great EV as part of the BMW 'i' range. The car is big and reflects BMW's recent style upgrades. The car is looking to have Level 3 autonomy, allowing for the driver to keep their hands and eyes off the road going up to 80 mph on the highway. Very technological to say the least.

It looks as though the car's range will be over 400 miles, which is certainly impressive. But the US will probably have to wait until 2022 to get this one, but we are hoping that it will be worth the wait.

5 Volvo C40 Recharge SUV

The Volvo C40 Recharge electric coupe SUV is newly announced and is looking to be a brilliant car. The car is to go into in Autumn 2021, before being sold in 2022. The C40 is based on the electric XC40 (which is to be released in 2021). At the same time, it hopes to rival the Audi Q4 E-Tron as Volvo make their way onto being an EV-only firm by 2030.

The car outputs 402 bhp through using the same engine used in the XC40 P8 and an electric motor boosting the power. We're certainly excited about this one and we can't wait to see what it can do on the roads.

The Seat Minimo is certainly an interesting car. It takes inspiration from the Renault Twizy and is perfect for cities. The vehicle is looking to be in line with emissions regulations while also appealing to those who need to drive around cities - like London in the UK.

3 Audi e-Tron GT
