Pickup trucks have become extremely popular over the last couple of decades. Thanks to a plethora of increasingly fast and luxurious trucks, more and more people have made the switch from sedans to more versatile vehicles such as pickup trucks. Given the large amount of trucks on the road, some owners have decided to modify their trucks in order to make them unique.

Some modifications will turn a regular truck into a doomsday-ready monster. There are plenty of trucks that are modified to perfection out there, but that is only because their owners followed a train of thought that would eventually lead to that result. When chosen carefully, the right combination of parts will give any truck the aggressive look and performance it deserves.

10 Fender Flares

In the most recent years, conventional wide-body kits have been losing traction. Perhaps it's due to the amount of work needed that they fell out of favor? It is also important to point out that once a wide-body kit has been applied to a vehicle, it is practically impossible to remove it. Removing it will take time and for sure create some frustration in the process.

Lifted trucks with tastefully chosen fender flares are usually among the coolest modified pickup trucks gearheads have ever seen. The greatest part about fender flares is that they are affordable and easily installed. The result will likely give any truck a much more aggressive look.

9 Offset Wheels

One of the very first modifications applied to a vehicle is usually a new set of wheels. Though it differs from one tuner to another, the choice rims will often times dictate how a vehicle will end up getting customized. As a result, wheels manufacturers have created some very beautiful (and expensive) wheels.

Lifted trucks look great. However, without the right set of wheels, they will most likely look extremely bland. One of the coolest mods that can be applied to a lifted truck is by far some large, offset wheels. Though some truck fans cannot stand the sight of offset wheels, they still look really awesome.

8 Exhaust System

Most trucks are usually equipped with high-powered V6s or V8s. Though the produce a decent amount of horsepower and torque, they fail to produce the roaring sound that should come out of a truck. Thankfully, aftermarket exhaust systems are widely available.

Though there are tons of suppliers of aftermarket exhaust systems, one that truly stands out is Flowmaster. Its American Thunder system will turn any trucks into a loud, roaring monster. Chevy owners, as well as Ford and GMC owners, will have to spend a little bit of money on a Flowmaster exhaust system if they want their truck to be truly complete.

7 Heavy Duty Bumpers

Over the years, carmakers have turned pickup trucks into some of the meanest looking vehicles ever. Though the level of aggressiveness is palpable, it is however not enough for people with a genuine need to create an absolute beast. Moreover, truck owners may want to make their toys a bit more practical when evolving in a rugged environment.

With a mean front bumper like the ones in the pictures above, your truck will not be among those modified pickup trucks people would be embarrassed to drive. Removing the stock front bumper and replacing with a sturdier, meaner bumper will turn any truck into a machine ready to overcome any obstacle. It will also be much more practical to tow another truck.

6 Snorkel

Some mods are just for show. They do not serve any purpose besides making any given truck looks good. Other parts, such as a snorkel, are 100% practical. Used mainly in highly challenging environments, snorkels can end up saving a truck's engine by keeping it from get clogged or flooded.

The snorkel is more adapted to mid-sized trucks such as the Tacoma or the Colorado as they can navigate much more easily in swampy environment. In order to prevent the engine from getting flooded, a snorkel must be installed. A snorkel, though mainly used for its practicality, will give any truck a very cool look.

5 Lowering Kit

Trucks are well-known for being able to overcome practically any obstacle. They are some of the most versatile vehicles available on the market these days. There are times when truck owners decide to go the other way. Instead of lifting trucks, they slammed them to the ground. More often than not, these trucks inherit some of the most powerful engines out there.

Trucks do not have to be lifted to look impressive. In fact, there are tons of trucks out there that receive a very different treatment. Slammed trucks equipped with an airbag system can be just as stunning as lifted trucks. Some of those slammed trucks have their engines completely revisited and often times produce as much power as a sports car.

4 Supercharger

Trucks are usually equipped with quite powerful engines. Despite their size, the engines fitted under the hood are not providing the amount of power these trucks truly deserve. There are however tons of options to turn a decent big-block V8 into a monster from hell.

When equipped with a supercharger, modified trucks can become the sort of ridiculously fast trucks that make sports cars owners furious. Whether it is a Kenne Bell, Edelbrock, or Whipple supercharger, the end result will likely have BMW and Corvette owners wonder whether it was a good idea or not to pull up to that sleeper truck.

3 Luxury Rims

A truck that is meant to go off-road on a regular basis does not necessarily need flashy rims. In fact, the luxurious rims should be left to the lowered trucks. Not to the lifted princesses. As the purpose of the truck is solely to turn heads, luxurious rims are a must-have.

If a truck will not be used to go off-road and will more than likely be driven on perfectly paved roads, it will be mandatory to install some highly luxurious rims. Whether they are Lexani or Forgiato wheels, installing some really head-turning rims is an absolute requirement.

2 Wrapped

A modified truck that is not meant to be off-road, also known as a lifted princess, must have a paint job or wrap that will for sure guarantee its owners to be the center of attention. Though an entirely new paint job may be costly and somewhat irreversible, a tastefully chosen wrap may do the job just fine.

Though wrapping up a large-sized truck might be somewhat costly, the end result will for sure be astonishing. A digital rendering can be done prior to applying the wrap to the truck, which is the perfect way of figuring out whether the wrapped truck will be a real show-stopper or not.

1 Baja Style

If neither the lifted or slammed styles please you, you can always go the Baja way. You may have to kiss your right to drive on the road goodbye, but you will most likely have one of the coolest (if not the coolest) modified truck on the block. Applicable to about any truck ever made, the Baja style is the ultimate custom style.

This modification is actually quite extreme and costly. This is the ultimate transformation. It is important to notice that the truck is neither lifted nor slammed. No. It is now a mean-mugging machine that can overcome almost any obstacle at high speed. It will not be the best daily driver, but it sure will be fun to drive somewhere in the desert.
