Celebrities from the world of sport, TV, music, and Hollywood movies all seem to have one thing in common; they love to spend big bucks on ludicrously expensive supercars. The first family of reality TV, the Kardashians, are particularly well known for their splurges on motor vehicles. They have even been known to gift each other million-dollar supercars for birthdays, Christmas and to celebrate the births of their many children.
Many celebs have been spotted driving around LA behind the wheels of expensive and exclusive vehicles, and some of the coolest celebrity supercars are included in the list below.
9 Cristiano Ronaldo - Bugatti
Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best-paid athletes in the world. Forbes estimated that he earned $105 million in the 2019/20 season, second only to tennis supremo Roger Federer. With all that money in the bank, it is hardly surprising that Portuguese international superstar Ronaldo has treated himself to a stylish supercar – or three.
He doesn’t just own a Bugatti Chiron and a Bugatti Veyron, but he also bought a limited edition Bugatti Centodieci earlier this year, one of just ten made by the French company, which cost almost $11 million.
8 Eric Clapton - Ferrari 458 SP 12
Like Ronaldo, rock legend Eric Clapton also has a passion for a particular make of cars; in Clapton’s case, he is the proud owner of an impressive collection of Ferraris. He owns a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, a 1964 Ferrari GTO Lusso, and a Ferrari Enzo, but the highlight of the collection is his custom-made Ferrari SP12 EC – the EC standing for Eric Clapton.
Ferrari wanted $4 million to make a special model for the singer, which was based on Clapton’s favorite ever Ferrari, the 512 BB, a car that was made between 1976 and 1981.
7 Kanye West - Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss
Rappers are notorious for splashing the cash on outrageous car collections, and Kanye West is no exception. He also happens to be a member of the Kardashian clan - by marriage – so he may get a few new cars for his collection for Christmas.
He also owns a Bugatti Veyron, as well as a Russian Dartz Prombron luxury SUV, which has gold-plated windows and white gold gauges encrusted with diamonds. Perhaps the most stylish vehicle in his garage is the Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss, a retro-styled sports car with a top speed of 207mph.
6 Floyd Mayweather - Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita
Boxer Floyd Mayweather loves to throw his money around; so much so that he almost ended up bankrupt in 2017. He may have earned $1 billion during his career, but when you will only wear boxer shorts and sneakers once before throwing them away, as well as buying his private jet, it is easy to see how Mayweather blew his fortune.
He also likes to spend big on cars and owns several supercars including a $4.8 million Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita. Mayweather later sold the car at auction for “just” $2.6 million.
5 Kylie Jenner - Bugatti Chiron
Kylie Jenner may be the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner dynasty (if you don’t count their prodigious offspring) but she has followed in the footsteps of her momager Kris and older sisters Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and Kendall when it comes to cars.
As well as supercars from Ferrari and more sedate but stylish Rolls-Royce models, the young entrepreneur also owns a Bugatti Chiron, which she bought in 2019 after breaking up with Travis Scott. Jenner posted a video of her latest automotive acquisition on Instagram but was forced to take it down after a backlash from fans.
4 Jay Leno - GM EcoJet
There is no doubt about who has the best car collection in Hollywood. Chat show host Jay Leno has an eclectic selection of vehicles in his museum-worthy garage, including steam-powered cars from the 19th century and one-of-a-kind supercars like the GM EcoJet.
Leno worked with General Motors to design and build the EcoJet, a supercar with a difference which is powered by a turbine engine from a helicopter that runs on biodiesel. Despite its unconventional power source, the futuristic EcoJet still boasts a top speed of 130mph while remaining environmentally friendly.
3 Dwayne Johnson - Pagani Huayra
Wrestler turned actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson loves his Ford F-150 truck, and this beefy but reliable pickup certainly suits his rough and ready style. But Johnson is now a star in the Fast and Furious franchise, and that comes with a certain level of expectation as far as supercars are concerned.
The star embraced his inner street racer when he splashed $1.3 million on a Pagani Huayra sports car, though he did look as though he was struggling to get out of the car when he arrived at the 2016 premiere for his TV series Ballers.
2 Ludacris - Chrysler ME 4-12
Rapper Ludacris is another of the stars of the Fast and Furious movies who also has a real-life passion for fast cars, although his heart will always belong to his treasured 1993 Acura Legend; he loves his old beater so much that it even featured on one of his album covers.
At the other end of the spectrum is his Chrysler ME 4-12, one of just motor racing prototypes built by Chrysler in 2004, which Ludacris picked up when the project failed to come to fruition.
1 Ralph Lauren - Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic
Fashion designer Ralph Lauren has amassed a fortune worth around $6.3 billion over his long and successful career, leaving him plenty of cash to spend on his obsession; vintage cars. As well as being the owner of a 1962 Ferrari GTO, a carbon copy of the vehicle which sold for $48.4 million at auction, Lauren is also the proud owner of a very stylish Bugatti.
This isn’t a boring Bugatti Chiron or Bugatti Veyron, however, but a gorgeous Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic from 1937 that is said to be worth around $40 million.
