- As a category, supermotos haven't got the popularity they deserve so far. That said, it hasn't stopped manufacturers from catering to the demand from enthusiasts. Given that, we have updated this list to include a few more entries of competent supermotos that you should consider if you're in the market for one.
For a while now, sitting in an under-appreciated corner of the motorcycle market has been an underrated segment. Supermotos might not have the mass appeal of cruisers in the two-wheeled world, but that hardly means they don't have merit. And once you know what they stand for a little better, it's not hard to see why they're so revered.

As a category, supermotos haven't got the popularity they deserve so far. That said, it hasn't stopped manufacturers from catering to the demand from enthusiasts. Given that, we have updated this list to include a few more entries of competent supermotos that you should consider if you're in the market for one.
Supermotos are famed for their ability to tear up a racetrack with as much ease as they flatten the roughest off-road conditions. And you'd be wrong in thinking that there aren't that many manufacturers catering to this segment; the likes of Aprilia, Kawasaki, KTM, Husqvarna, and Ducati all have highly competitive machines in this segment, as this list will prove. This, then, is our list of the coolest supermotos you can buy in 2024.
How we got our model selections: To compile this list, HotCars reviewed all prominent motorcycle manufacturers and their supermoto offerings. Given the diversity of the offerings, both used and new models were considered. Aside from their key performance parameters, each entry's current market price was also factored in. All the entries in this list have been organized in increasing order of their current values.
10 Aprilia Dorsoduro 750
Used Price Range: $5,700-$7,000
It won’t set the world alight with its performance; it certainly isn’t the most agile either, but it is an Aprilia. Frankly, there is just something about the manufacturer from Noale, and their legendary Supermoto.
They have an uncanny ability to inject fun into most of their machines, and these older 750cc bikes were just all about fun. Although promising, the 900 could never quite match this generation. Making just over 90 horsepower at a lofty 9000 rpm, the Dorsoduro is one of the most free-revving Supermotos around.

9 Kawasaki KLX 300SM
Starting MSRP: $6,599
A small displacement Kawasaki Supermoto? The last thing you should do, however, is be misled by the KLX 300SM's 292cc engine. This may not be the most powerful Supermoto on this list, but it still has a lot going for it.
Given the fact that it's got a relatively affordable price tag, the KLX 300SM gives you basic components to play with. This undoubtedly comes in handy when you're particularly rough off-road. As an entry supermoto, it's hard to compete with the KLX 300SM, and the Kawasaki will not only make you a better rider, but it will also sufficiently whet your appetite for some of the bigger, meaner supermotos on this list.

8 KTM 990 Supermoto R
Used Price Range: $6,800-$9,000
Just as the Italians were beginning to think they owned the most powerful supermoto class, KTM brought a gun to a knife fight with the huge LC8-powered 990.
It is a beast: tall, scary, fast, and with pretty much no rider aids. This is a machine for experienced riders. Even so, it is very much designed to take on the Ducati, so it isn’t all that agile, but it is arguably more fun than any other big-bore Supermoto.

This Custom KTM 690 SMC-R Supermoto Is A Black-and-Brown "Marshall"
Fitting in the fine line between flat trackers and supermotos, this customized KTM 690 SMC-R by AMP Motorcycles is a stripped-down hooligan on wheels.7 Aprilia SXV550
Used Price Range: $7,000-$8,500
Straight out of left field comes the Aprilia SXV. Unfortunately, they did not sell all that well, so finding one might be challenging, but it is certainly well worth it.
Its relatively small displacement, 549cc V-twin, makes it a truly special (and not particularly reliable) engine that makes as much as 70 horsepower in a bike that weighs a good deal under 300 pounds. It is agile, powerful, incredibly fun, and everything you would ever want from a supermoto.

6 Suzuki DR-Z400SM
Starting MSRP: $7,899
One clear divide that has emerged over the years is bespoke, competition-ready Supermotos and bikes that can be used daily.
The DR-Z falls firmly into the daily rider camp, which is not a bad thing at all. It is fully road-legal, relatively economical, and an absolute blast to ride at just about any speed. It won’t hold a candle to newer race-spec machinery, but it can give you your kicks every day.

The Zero FXE Is An Electric Supermoto
Zero’s vision of a supermoto motorcycle is undoubtedly revolutionary.5 Husqvarna Nuda
Used Price Range: $8,000-$9,800
In the brief period Husqvarna spent with BMW, the Nuda was one of their few notable contributions. After a few quiet years, they came out with much optimism and made a decent go of it before BMW lost interest.
It got the then newly developed parallel twin out of the F800, bored out to 898cc. The bike made just over 100 horsepower. That is more than enough to get the thing sideways and more than enough to do a few wheelies, but it is unusually long, so agile it is not.

4 KTM 450 SMR
Starting MSRP: $11,999
Out of all the dirt bikes modified to supermoto machines, the KTM 450 SMR is undoubtedly the king. As much as the other high-performance dirt bikes are a lot of fun if you want to be competitive, this is the bike you want to be sitting on.
This thing is ready to take on any track from the factory. Its incredible low-end power is matched with a mighty top-end. There just isn’t anything else like it. Capable of doing well over 100 mph, the other bikes consistently get left in the dust.

Here's What Makes The Husqvarna 701 Supermoto A Great Beginners Bike
Combining some incredible features and exceptional rideability, the 701 Supermoto is one of the best bikes we've found for new riders.3 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono
Starting MSRP: $12,995
When Ducati decided to enter the Supermoto business, they would not mess about it. They had no desire to go racing, so the Italians simply designed a fun machine.
It is currently one of the most capable supermotos money can buy. It is also substantially heavier than most other bikes on the market so that it won’t change direction quite as fast. However, all that grunt means pretty much anyone can do a power wheelie.

2 Husqvarna 701 Supermoto
Starting MSRP: $12,999
The Husqvarna 701 Supermoto could just as easily be read as the KTM 690 SMC R. One is blue, and the other is orange. We like the blue and white version because it looks better; as for performance, it really lacks, and adding it to this list would be like doubling up.
The big thumper will give a few vibrations higher up in the rev range, but that won’t matter one bit because the 701 Supermoto has all the top-notch suspension components you would expect from a premium manufacturer yet still retains its raw authenticity.

1 KTM 690 SMC R
Starting MSRP: $12,999
The KTM 690 SMC R is reportedly one of the wildest supermotos you can spend money on. A sizable 690cc engine puts out considerable power and torque figures to give you all the flexibility you'd want.
It also features fully adjustable WP suspension and Brembo brakes, all designed to give you the most confidence possible while pushing it to the limit. This is hardly a beginner's bike, but the 690 SMC R massively rewards the more skilled riders.
