Americans love the great outdoors. According to a report by Global Market Insights, the off-road vehicle market in the US is expected to be worth more than $13 billion by 2024, which is more than double what it was a decade ago.
There are plenty of decent off-road pickup trucks and SUVs you can buy today, most of which can double as daily drivers when you get back from your off-road adventures. However, for off-roading enthusiasts looking for something more hardcore, there's a growing number of monstrous 6x6 trucks with all sorts of modifications and equipment to ensure they can traverse any terrain on the planet. Let's explore ten of them.
10 Hennessey Goliath
Hennessey needs no introduction, as it's responsible for building some of the best modified American cars. Hennessey mostly works on muscle cars and sports cars, but it has also built several incredible custom off-roaders over the years. The Goliath 6x6 is a perfect example.
The Goliath 6x6 started off as a Chevy Silverado Trail Boss but gained an extra pair of wheels, a longer bed, a six-inch lift kit, and a new suspension system. Equipped with a 705-hp V8, the Goliath needs just over 4 seconds to blast past 60 mph.
9 KAHN’s Flying Huntsman Pickup
The Land Rover Defender is an absolute legend in the auto industry. It's widely considered to be the first off-road vehicle available for sale to the general public, which is why so many gearheads adore it worldwide.
The Defender already has a reputation for ruggedness. However, Kahn Design still felt it wasn't rugged enough, which is why they spend thousands of hours building the crazy 6x6 Flying Huntsman. This beefed-up Defender looks like a Defender from the front but has a custom bed, a 2-inch lift kit, a unique six-wheel-drive setup with pneumatic actuation, and retro alloy wheels.
8 Mercedes-Benz 6x6 G63 AMG

Mercedes-Benz is not the first automaker that comes to mind when you think of off-road vehicles, as it's mostly known for building some of the best luxury cars. However, the G63 AMG 6x6 shows that the German automaker could dominate the off-road segment if it wanted to.
Unlike most of the vehicles on this list, the G63 AMG 6x6 is entirely built at the Mercedes-Benz factory, which is why it has a cleaner and more purpose-built look to it. It comes with a powerful 544-hp twin-turbo V8 accompanied by many innovative features, including a portal axle drive that increases ground clearance, independent axle suspension, and an innovative tire pressure control system.
7 JMACX Toyota Land Cruiser 6x6
Australia is known for having some of the wildest outdoors in the world, which is why many of its people prefer to drive off-roaders. Australia is also where we find many incredible off-road builds, such as this custom 6x6 Toyota Land Cruiser GXL by JMACX.
This awesome truck is equipped with a 209-hp Diesel V8 along with special off-road features like 16-inch wheels, power windows, over fenders, differential lock, and a superb infotainment system to spice up trips.
6 Ford Hennessey VelociRaptor 6x6
The Ford F-150 Raptor set the automotive world on fire when it debuted in 2019. It offered better speed and performance than any other F-150 ever built, which is why so many gearheads love it. As usual, Hennessey wanted to take the F-150 Raptor to a whole new level, which is why they built the 6x6 VelociRaptor.
The VelociRaptor has an extended truck bed to accommodate an extra pair of wheels, 7 inches of ground clearance more than the standard Raptor, beefy 20-inch wheels with 37-inch off-road tires, Brembo brakes, and high-intensity LED lights.
5 Arctic Trucks AT44 6X6
Most gearheads have never heard of Arctic Trucks, as it's a small Iceland - based custom truck builder. However, Arctic Trucks did have a few moments of fame a few years ago as it built the custom Toyota Hilux that James May and Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear drove to the North Pole.
Arctic Trucks now makes a similar Hilux-based custom 6x6 pickup truck for interested buyers. Dubbed the AT44, this truck has all the equipment you'd need to get you to the North Pole.
4 Rezvani Motors Hercules 6x6
Rezvani has a reputation for making insane off-road vehicles based on existing vehicles - we've already told you about the Wrangler-based TANK and how awesome it was. After the success of the TANK, Rezvani went back to the drawing board and built the even crazier Hercules 6x6.
Like the TANK, the Hercules is based on the Jeep Wrangler. It received extensive modifications to boost its off-road performance, including being stretched by 20 feet to accommodate a 7-foot bed, an extra axle, a new bulletproof body, and a 1,300-hp supercharged V8 engine.
3 Patriot Campers LC79 Megatourer
Australia-based Patriot Campers doesn't build off-road vehicles for the occasional weekend off-road getaway. Their target market is made up of off-road enthusiasts who want to live out of their vehicles for months, as the LC79 Megatourer shows.
The LC79 Megatourer is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser, which already is a capable off-road machine. It is then equipped with all the off-road equipment necessary to tackle tough terrains, a 70-liter freshwater tank, central-locking storage for gear, roof-mounted solar panels, and a mounting system for Patriot Campers canopy tent systems.
2 Carlex Design Exy 6x6
The X-Class has largely been a failure for Mercedes-Benz, as it failed to be the strong seller that the German marque had anticipated it to be. However, that didn't stop Carlex Design from using the X-Class to build one of the most stylish 6x6 trucks available today - the Exy 6x6.
Since it's based on a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, the Exy 6x6 has one of the most comfortable and luxurious interiors in 6x6 trucks. However, it will still tackle any terrain as it has six monster wheels, a beefed-up suspension, dual winches at the front and rear, and carbon-ceramic brakes.
1 Bruiser Conversions 6x6
If this beast looks familiar, that's because it was one of the stars of the 2017 SEMA show. Starting with a four-door Jeep Wrangler, Bruiser Conversions stretched the rear to accommodate a truck bed and an extra axle and then equipped it with GM's popular 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine with 450 hp on tap.
It also comes with six 40-inch tires mounted on 17-inch beadlock wheels, a four-link long travel suspension with Fox coilovers, and adjustable track bars. This awesome vehicle was Bruiser's first 6x6, and we hope to see a lot more in the future.
