Damon Motorcycles announced this week that they are continuing to secure financial backing, ensuring their corporate mission stays fully energized. The influx of money includes $30M in funds, as well as another $20M in preorders for their exciting line of electric motorcycles. This welcome piece of news means that consumers may soon be able to throw a leg over the striking HyperSport series, a cutting-edge sportbike that may change the industry forever.

The Hype Surrounding The Damon HyperSport

Unveiled at CES last year, the Damon HyperSport is a groundbreaking example of two-wheeled tech. In fact, CES was so impressed by this machine that the HyperSport won their Best in Innovation award. The recent praise seems well deserved, as Damon has opted to break from the conventions set by other manufacturers of electric motorcycles. Instead of falling in line with manufacturers content with low power and low range, Damon has set their sights higher and appear to be establishing new rules for an EV (think Telsa, but in the motorcycle industry).

The HyperSport name is rather fitting as the Canadian-based Damon markets the machines as hyper aware, hyper smart, and hyper fast. The bikes come equipped with CoPilot, a 360° advanced warning system utilizing a combination of cameras, radar, and non-visual sensors to inform the rider of impending obstacles. Another unique feature is a system referred to as Shift, which enables a rider to adjust handlebar and peg positions while underway. So, as a rider experiences discomfort due to the bike's aggressive stance, with the press of a button, the motorcycle can transform to allow for a more relaxed ride.

The most impressive part of the Damon HyperSport is undoubtedly the HyperDrive, "the world’s first monocoque-constructed, 100% electric, multi-variant powertrain." The HyperDrive instantly cranks out 200 hp and 200 Nm of torque (148 lb-ft), in a motorcycle capable of 200 mph. To put it plainly, this bike is quick as lightning.

With capabilities like that, it should come as no shock that Jay Giraud, founder and CEO at Damon Motors, is quite confident in the product. As he stated in this week's announcement, “We have unveiled the future of two-wheel transportation and yielded high demand in North America and Europe, validating the market need for high-performance electric motorcycles.”

So, while Damon has acquired the funds necessary to maintain their bold business strategy, buyers have also expressed their sincere interest in the HyperSport. The MSRP on the Hypersport line ranges from $16,995 for the SE model to $39,995 for the Premier. Like Damon, buyers may need to seek their own investors before placing a down payment on a HyperSport, but if this machine is half as good as it sounds, it is definitely a deal worth considering.
