Some may beg to differ, but most would agree that the most exciting day of car ownership is when you take delivery. Just imagine one's frustration, however, upon learning that their ordered car is delayed. Just imagine the disappointment (an understatement) of would-be 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E owners when they learned that their new electric SUV is arriving a few weeks later than expected.

Anxious Owners Frustrated By Delivery Delays

Perhaps salt was further rubbed on the wound when the online world showed photos of new Mach-Es from the Kansas City Plant being loaded onto trains. Anxious owners who've been waiting that saw these photos might have been jumping for joy, or else screaming at the top of their lungs. Unfortunately, they received an e-mail saying their Mach-Es would be delayed.

The good people at the Mach-E Club forum didn't hide their frustrations and revealed that Ford had sent out e-mails stating that their new electric SUVs (especially the Mach-E First Edition) won't be delivered on time.

Mach-E Club forum member JTK44 posted a snapshot of the e-mail, saying that to ensure complete satisfaction, additional time is needed before delivery. The previous estimated delivery range of between February 9 and 15, 2021 is now moved to between March 24 and 30, 2021. That's more than three from the build date of December 6. His Mach-E reservation was made in November 2019, as converted in July 2020.

Other posts from forum members complained of having to wait a little longer than expected, as their car leases have already expired or are expiring by the end of the month. Some forum members noted that they were expecting a delivery date earlier than stated in their e-mails.

Mach-E Delay Due To Additional Checks

Another user forum member driverside (Jimmy Dinsmore of Torque News) reached out to Ford and received a reply from Emma Berg, a Mach-E PR person. Berg told Dinsmore that Ford is conducting additional quality checks on several hundred Mach-Es to ensure they deliver only high-quality vehicles so that quality meets customers' expectations.

Perhaps, there are new issues that warranted additional checks. Whatever the case may be, only Ford knows for now, but it's great they're being double-checked before delivery.
