Dennis CollinsDennis Collins heads off to a Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, in his latest YouTube video. Unlike his usual adventures that involve buying and retrieving an in-need-of-work classic car, Collins is here to sell some of his collection. Along the way, we get to see Barret-Jackson happenings outside the auction.
Collins’ Predictions For Valuable Classics
Early in the video, viewers catch a glimpse of a seminar on up-and-coming classics to watch for. Collins calls attention to the 1997-2006 Jeep TJ (Wrangler) lineup. In particular, the Wrangler Unlimited (2004-2006) with its extra 11 inches of body length is noteworthy, especially if it’s in the Rubicon trim with a hardtop. Collins reports seeing 30 percent increases in these vehicles’ values. He also brings up 1964.5 to 1973.5 Porsche 911s and 912s (the long-hood Porsches) as still being undervalued.
The video then dives into the six vehicles Collins is auctioning at Barrett-Jackson. An upcoming “Coffee Walk” presentation promises a summary of the auction results for these cars.
1967 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Pace Car (10:48)
This Chevy is one of 104 pace cars built for the 51st Indy 500. While the car is rare, to begin with, its unusual four-on-the-floor configuration is a standout from the automatic transmissions usually found in these examples. Alex summarizes the moderate restoration work done to bring this car to a showroom appearance.
1975 Ford Torino Starsky And Hutch Tribute (12:24)
Next up is a Starsky and Hutch tribute car that Collins acquired from a person who took two years to restore the vehicle. Sadly, we don’t get to see much of the details other than the 351 cubic-inch Cleveland V-8 under the hood.
1966 Sunbeam Tiger (12:54)
Calling the V-8-powered Sunbeam Tiger a “mini Cobra,” Collins calls out this British classic as an affordable alternative to the Shelby. The 260 cubic-inch engine in this Purple Haze-painted car is paired with a four-speed manual.
1979 Jeep CJ-5 (13:17)
Collins’ enthusiasm for classic Jeeps is evident as he touts the highlights of this CJ-5 that underwent a multi-year frame-off restoration by the previous owner.
1984 Jeep Scrambler (13:52)
Collins looks at a CJ-8 Scrambler previously built 16 years ago by Collins Brothers Jeep. He estimates that to do the same amount of work today would run about $135,000.
2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock (14:33)
Last up is a 2021 Super Stock with its 807-horsepower Hellcat engine. With only 10 miles on the clock and a rare configuration (he ordered the car new), Collins comments that this Dodge will be one of the most sought-after Hellcat-powered cars.
