The Bugatti Chiron’s exterior designer is joining Koenigsegg as their new head of design.

He’s also starting his own design company on the side, but Koenigsegg seems okay with that.

Alexander Selipanov, who prefers to go by Sasha, used to work at Bugatti where he helped design the overall look of the Chiron hypercar. Before that, he worked at Lamborghini, and before that at Volkswagen. Most recently he completed a stint at luxury car brand Genesis where he worked on several concept cars.

So yeah, this guy seems qualified to work at Koenigsegg.

Sasha got his degree from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. From there, he went to Volkswagen in 2005, then to Lamborghini in 2010 to lend a hand on the Huracan. Job done there, he landed a gig at Bugatti where he was Head of Exterior Design. Sasha made the exterior for both the Bugatti Chiron as well as the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo.

After that, Sasha took a job at Genesis as their Head of Global Advanced Design. He headed work on two concept cars, the Genesis Essentia back in 2018, and the Genesis Mint electric urban commuter revealed at the 2019 New York Auto Show.

Now, Sasha heads to Sweden where he will take over as Koenigsegg's new Head of Design starting in October. Not only that, he'll also be starting his own business. RAW Design House will be based in Ängelholm, Sweden, and Sasha will be both Managing Director and Chief Designer, offering design solutions to a select group of clients.

“This is a dream come true," said Sasha in a statement. “I have followed Koenigsegg’s path for years and have been a huge fan of the company’s free spirit and commitment to innovation. In today’s world, Koenigsegg’s story and achievements are unparalleled; I am honored to offer my professional expertise as well as my lifelong passion for sports cars to Koenigsegg.”

With the Jeska already out, perhaps we'll see Sasha take a crack at an even more ludicrous version of what could be the fastest production car ever made?
