Cars from China aren't very well known in the Western World, mainly due to the fact that most Western Countries don't import Chinese cars. That's a real shame since there actually are some good cars from China that actually we would really want to see on our shores.

Sure, there are so many cars on sale right now in America, so we are spoiled for choice. However, these Chinese cars would just spice things up a bit if they were offered here. China has many large car brands, and while some of them are garbage, there are some brands that make some very fine cars indeed. Here are ten new Chinese cars that are actually desirable.

10 Nio EC6

via

The NIO EC6 is the coupe version of the ES6 SUV. It's a really smart looking electric SUV with a great interior and also decent power. Nio is a favorite amongst American stock investors, yet no Nio vehicles are sold on US soil yet. The EC6 would really put up a good fight against the Tesla Model Y.

via: pintrest.com

The base models have 429hp and the car can do a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds with power going to all four wheels. The top model has 536hp and a 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds. Not overly fast but pretty decent. It may even rival some of the established electric SUVs.

9 Lynk&Co 05

via Motor.es

Lynk&Co is a very unique car brand with its all-new car membership scheme. They advertise the fact that nobody needs a car unless they really need it, then they can just get a Lynk&Co car whenever, thanks to their membership. The 05 model won't be one of the first cars launched on this scheme but either way, we want one.

via Motor.es

The 05 is a sporty SUV Coupe made to rival the likes of the BMW X4 and the Mercedes GLC Coupe. It's a great looking car, and it may just beat a few of these luxury SUVs. It's also got a really nice interior which, design-wise, is on par with the Germans.

8 Xpeng P7

The Xpeng P7 is a new Chinese rival to the Tesla Model 3. It's a pretty nice electric sedan that looks a bit like a Model S Tesla. However, unlike many Chinese cars, the P7 isn't some cheap knock off. In fact, it's a pretty good car. The P7 comes in three specs, similar to the Tesla Model 3. There are two RWD options and one AWD option.

via: forbes.com

The P7 is slower than the Model 3, but in the real world, these sort of figures are nonsense. It's all about practicality and comfort. The P7 has a lot of tech inside and out and the top AWD model does a 350-mile range.

7 Wey VV5

wikipedia.org

The Wey VV5 is an awesome looking SUV made by Great Wall Motors. It's a premium SUV with an exotic design and a luxurious interior. It's powered by either a 171hp 1.5-liter turbo inline-4 or a 227hp 2.0 inline turbo-4.

via: chinapev.com

The VV5 is a handsome car that looks similar to the Chevrolet Blazer and the Maserati Levante at the rear. It's here to rival the likes of the GLC and the X4, and we have to say it looks far more interesting.

6 MG 5

VIA: CARSCOOPS.COM

The MG 5 is a coupe-like sedan. It's a rather handsome car which is powered by a 1.5 liter turbo inline-4 with 171hp. The whole car looks similar to the Mercedes CLA, which is great news because the CLA is a great-looking car. It is only sold in China despite MG being a once English brand.

via: youtube.com

The UK does get an MG 5, but that's a boring electric station wagon. The proper MG 5 is this one and if it were sold in the UK or anywhere else in the Western world, it would probably do really well in sales as it is an extremely unique vehicle.

5 Songsan Motors SS Dolphin

via: businessinsider.com

This may look like a knock-off version of the legendary C1 Corvette, but it isn't. The SS Dolphin is a hybrid sports car inspired by the C1 Corvette, and it doesn't come at some cheap kit-car cost either. In fact, if you want an SS Dolphin, be prepared to sign a cheque for $160,000. More than a new Acura NSX.

via: carscoops.com

This is the car that Corvette enthusiasts should be flocking to. It keeps the environmentalists happy whilst being pretty fast. Under the hood is a 1.5-liter turbo inline-4 unit as well as an electric motor. The 0-60 time is just 4.9 seconds, which is very decent, and the interior is really nice too.

4 Wey VV7 GT

via: chinapev.com

The Wey VV7 GT is an extremely sexy SUV. It looks muscular as hell and Brabus has even had a play with it. It does have a disappointing engine though. Furthermore, it's a 2-liter turbo inline-4 unit, which in all honesty, is a bit sad. This SUV looks like it needs a big rumbling V8. A small 2-liter won't do this thing justice.

via: motor1.com

The VV7 GT would work really well in the US against the X6 and the GLE. Design-wise, it beats them both. Engine-wise, it's a big fat no. If only it had a screaming V8, it would be so much more interesting.

3 VW Phideon

via: autocar.co.uk

VW is a German brand, but they have been in China for so many years, and they have essentially conquered the Chinese car market. Years ago, VW made a car called the Phaeton which failed in every market except in China. Hence, why VW actually made a successor to the Phaeton called the Phideon.

via: carscoops.com

It is a Chinese car that we really want in the US, although it probably would fail massively. But, it would be a great second-hand buy.

2 Nio ES8

Via: Autocar

The Nio ES8 is a large electric SUV, with a 311-mile range. It will be sold in the US soon for $68,000, but we don't know when that "soon" is. The ES8 was meant to arrive on American soil, but obviously, that never happened. The ES8 is a 7-seater SUV with air-suspension and AWD. It is very practical, and it would probably give some of the current 7-seater SUVs on the market, a run for their money.

autoguide.com

The Nio ES8 has a lot of tech on board too. It has the usual touchscreen CarPlay stuff, etc, but it has one other very interesting feature called Nomi. Who is Nomi? Your own virtual assistant with the car, and it's powered by artificial intelligence, so it grows a personality around you. It's an ideal function for single people.

1 Geely Icon

cardaily.co

The Geely Icon is a bot of an icon. It should be sold worldwide but for some weird reason, it isn't. It's a car that would appeal mostly to younger people mainly because it looks good, and it's powered by a 1.5 liter inline-3 turbo engine. Geely ordered over 30,000 pre-orders for this car which is crazy.

It is certainly an icon for Geely then, and they need to sell it elsewhere because it's obviously a popular car. It even has electric pop-out door handles which is cool. Furthermore, it has 188hp, and it will do a 0-60 in 7.9 seconds. That's decent power.
