Meant to bring the best diesel-based competitors North America has to offer, the annual "Ultimate Callout Challenge" took place last month at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana, and did not disappoint.

Gaining national recognition after a contestant's engine blew on the dyno, the viral video that ensued gave UCC its first taste of the international stage. Seen as a decathlon of sorts for diesel engine vehicles, teams must build a car capable of handling drag race duties, a handful of dyno pulls, and a sled-pulling contest.

Today, automotive YouTube channel 1320Video takes up close and personal with the Dirty Hooker Diesel team and their Chevrolet Silverado Duramax. As they make their way through the competition, hopefully, this time it will be flame-free.

From Flames To First Place Hopeful

Beginning life in 2003 on niche message boards, 1320Video has since become one of the most popular crews of car enthusiasts, especially in the Midwest. So, it was no surprise when they joined to document the DHD's journey from social media pariah to legitimate contender.

Taking on the quarter-mile first, DHD managed to sprint down the drag strip in an impressive 4.96 seconds. However, frustratingly enough, the boys missed out on becoming the drag champ by two-tenths of a second.

Yet still in good spirits, at the end of Friday, the DHD crew can swap out engine components as contestants prep for the dyno pull on Saturday. With that in mind, they are hoping for better results than the fire of 2019.

Opting to switch out their turbo and intake system for a massive twin-turbo, custom intake, the DHD crew waits in anticipation for the event. Although they hope to achieve around 2,500-3,000 horsepower, finishing the competition with their engine still intact is sure to be goal number one.

After a handful of pulls, the Duramax topped out at 2,486 horsepower and 2,500 lb-ft of torque. While you might be thinking, "how could anyone beat that?", one of the contestants wiped the competition floor after beating DHD by nearly 1,000 horsepower for a total of 3,336 horsepower.

Once again smelling the podium, DHD hopes to take home gold in the sled pull. For those unfamiliar, a sled pull is when a vehicle must tow an industrial tractor for as long as possible before the weight stops the car altogether. Going first this time, DHD managed to yank the truck over 280 feet before losing leverage. Unfortunately, it once again wouldn't be good enough to take home first place, as the victor managed to pull the tractor 293 feet down the course.

Although hoping for more, we have to imagine the DHD team is happy with their third-place overall result. With the Duramax still in one piece, it proved to be a huge success.
