Powerful, high-speed, high-performance-these are just some of the adjectives often associated with muscle cars. While the meaning of the term "muscle car" is subjective, there are cars whose status as an automotive tour de force is just questionable.

Ever since the 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88-dubbed as the first true muscle car-was born, car manufacturers have been producing muscle cars nonstop. And every time they launch a new one, it would boast a greater horsepower and a sleeker and more attractive look than the previous one. However, just like there is a runt in a litter, there is a weak link among this formidable lineup of cars. Here is the list of the most disappointing muscle cars of the decade.

10 2010 Ford Mustang

Despite having the most-coveted body style among its generation, the 2010 Ford Mustang is still one of the worst muscle cars around. It serves as a reminder that popularity does not always equate with quality.

The most disappointing thing about the 2010 Mustang is its unfulfilled potential. Ford let a car with so much potential for greatness to think that it has already reached its limit. The problem lies mainly in its engine. Instead of improving it, as the 2010 Ford Mustang is part of the fifth generation lineup. Ford chose to keep its 4.0-L V6 or 4.60-L V8 engine.

9 2010 Dodge Charger SE

The 2010 Dodge Charger SE is one of those muscle cars that are unworthy of the title. With a horsepower that can put anyone to sleep and an unreliable engine, it definitely gives muscle cars a bad name.

Its dodgy 2.7-L V6 can generate only 160 horsepower, which renders the 2010 Dodge Charger SE unremarkable on the road even with its more aggressive look. That being said, the more forgiving Dodge enthusiasts can still enjoy the 2010 Charger SE as long as they go for the Daytona and SRT8 models. Overall, the 2010 Dodge Charger SE is not much of an improvement to its predecessors, but it is a vice that some car enthusiasts cannot quit.

8 2019 Ford Mustang GT

This is the second Ford muscle car on the list, and Ford's laziness to produce better muscle cars is starting to become more apparent. Just like the 2010 Ford Mustang, the 2019 Mustang GT is characterized by stagnation and limitation.

Ford did not really do much to improve the 2019 Ford Mustang GT, and that is not even the worst part. It made things even worse for the 2019 Mustang GT. Despite its stellar performance on the road, its unflattering plastic pieces here and there, as well as its higher price tag for the same specs as the 2018 has earned it a spot on this list.

7 2019 Equus Bass

The 2019 Equus Bass exudes luxury and this is exactly what made it one of the worst muscle cars of the decade. Its $250,000 price tag is not really that appealing to the public when there are other muscle cars that perform as well as it does for a more affordable price.

Another thing that makes the 2019 Equus Bass undesirable for some is its strange design. The moment you lay eyes on it, you will recall just about every major American muscle car there is. Yes, it looks like an American muscle car mashup, and you can either love it or hate it for that.

6 2019 Cadillac CTS-V

Just like the 2019 Equus Bass, the 2019 Cadillac CTS-V is well-known for its luxury. However, this is not the only thing these two cars have in common. They are also known for their hefty price tags.

The 2019 Cadillac CTS-V is priced at $90,000, but compared to its cheaper and more affordable competitors, it does not perform as well as a car of its price should. Having said that, it is still a Cadillac and a pretty decent ride, but if you can get a muscle car that performs as well as it does for a cheaper price, then there is a valid reason to not go for the 2019 CTS-V.

5 2019 Chrysler 300

Some car enthusiasts argue that the 2019 Chrysler 300 is not a muscle car but a mere luxury sedan. Chrysler, however, begs to disagree for it is the product of their relentless efforts to produce a competitive muscle car. The problem is, the 2019 Chrysler 300 is also a representation of Chrysler's failure to do so.

The 2019 Chrysler 300 does not have the exterior and the performance expected of a muscle car even with a HEMI engine installed in it. However, those who enjoy luxury at a reasonable price will surely love this car as it is luxurious without going crazy with the price tag.

4 2019 Kia Stinger

When we hear the words "muscle car," we always think of American car brands such as Chevrolet, Ford, and Dodge. But America is not the only one who is crazy about speed. Even South Korea is becoming a speed junkie.

Kia, a car brand based in Seoul, South Korea, wants to make its American competitors eat its dust with the 2019 Kia Stinger. Unfortunately, its 4-cylinder and V6 versions have done nothing to stop its competitors from leaving it in the dust. But, hey, it is not all that bad. South Korea still has BTS and some rocking good food to boast about in the meantime while Kia works on improving the Stinger.

3 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

It is hard to find something not to like about the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. But why is it on this list? It is because of the absence of the 1971-inspired grille the 2015 Challenger lineup is known for.

Dodge argues that fitting the 1971-inspired grille into the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is like fitting an oversize box into a smaller one. It will not help in improving the look of the 2015 Hellcat. Fans of the 1971-inspired grille who want the other features of the 2015 Hellcat will have to either give up on the grille or ultimately give up on purchasing the car, which can be quite difficult and even traumatizing for Dodge enthusiasts.

2 2012 Chevrolet Camaro

Chevrolet's muscle cars are notorious for their drinking problems. One of these gas guzzlers is the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro. Despite its stunning looks, the 2012 Camaro is not a practical car, especially for those who believe in the benefits of saving money and environmental protection.

In addition, the interior of the 2012 Camaro is not as gorgeous as its exterior. Its retro-themed interior might discourage younger car enthusiasts from purchasing this bad boy. It is not also suitable for taller drivers as it does not offer a lot of headroom. It is quite hard to look cool in a muscle car when your head is tilted to the side in an attempt to avoid touching the roof.

1 2015 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

Chevrolet

Another Chevrolet muscle car that is in hot water for refusing to drink in moderation is the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. According to the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, the 2015 Camaro ZL1 is one of the worst-performing cars in terms of gas mileage. It only gets 14 mpg in combined city and highway.

Aside from its poor fuel economy, the 2015 Camaro ZL1 is riddled with other problems. It remains essentially unchanged from its previous model and does not fare well against the Challenger and the Mustang. It also offers limited visibility from the inside and cramped rear seats and trunk space.

At present, power, speed, and overall performance are no longer the only elements that make for a great muscle car. Safety, fuel economy, and environment-friendly features are also taken into consideration in crowning the best of the best. Perhaps, incorporating these elements in the next generation of the cars on this list might make them some of the best muscle cars of the next decade.
