Dodge unleashed the limited-edition SRT Demon in 2017, and it's been dominating drag strips ever since. Boasting monstrous performance to the tune of 840 hp and 770 lb-ft of torque, this muscle car bows to no one, not even McLaren supercars. Ultimately, however, even a stock McLaren 765LT can beat a Dodge Demon on the strip despite the latter's ferocious launch off the line and impressive quarter-mile prowess. Funny enough, Challenger SRT Demon customers at the time of its release could avail the personalized Demon Crate package for a mere $1, which offered a collection of performance parts tailor-made for drag racing. What happens, though, when a Dodge Demon goes up against one of its own, another equally foreboding muscle car under the Dodge-SRT umbrella? A video upload on YouTube Channel Wheels offers such insight featuring a drag race between two Challengers—a SRT Demon and Hellcat Redeye.

A Tale Of Two Challengers

Without the SRT Demon, there'd be no Redeye Hellcat. Many of the Redeye Hellcat's parts come from the Demon, including a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, which is rated to produce 797 hp. Compared to a regular SRT Hellcat, the Redeye has a bigger supercharger, higher rpm limit, and improved boost pressure.

On paper, it's clear the Demon has the upper hand on the drag strip. Yet while the Redeye has advantages as a daily driver over the Demon, it's got just as much a shot at taking on the Demon as any other modern muscle car today. Plus, anything can happen in a drag race where there are more factors at play than just horsepower and torque.

Everyone knows the best way to warm up tires for better grip at the start of a drag race is performing a burnout, which the two Challengers execute before heading to the starting line.  Appropriately, whoever captured the footage made sure to zoom in on the Demon and Hellcat emblems adorning each Challenger's body panels before the race kicked off.

After both muscle cars launched off the starting line, the SRT Demon in black commanded an early lead. The Hellcat Redeye in purple was able to narrow the gap, but didn't have enough to overtake the big brother SRT. The Demon completed the quarter-mile in 10.17 seconds with the Hellcat Redeye finishing not far behind with 10.52 seconds.
