With the new C8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 on car enthusiasts' minds as of late, the prior generation C7 Corvette Z06 will likely come down even more on the used market. The previous generation Z06 is a potent American sports car that only has 20 less hp than the new Z06 (650 hp vs. 670 hp), but where it really counts is that it also makes nearly 200 lb-ft more torque than the new C8 Corvette Z06 (650 lb-ft vs. 460 lb-ft).

Not only that, but the C7's supercharged LT4 V8 engine allows for much easier tuning. Because of this, the C7 Corvette Z06 can make a 40 wheel horsepower gain just from a simple engine tune, making it a potent warrior at the drag strip.

In a new video by Wheels, we get to see a 2016 C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06's full potential as it completely destroys a Dodge Challenger Hellcat and E92 BMW 335i at the drag strip.

Updated March 2023: With the recent announcement of the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 "Last Call" muscle car, we've included some more information about the upcoming model that now puts the once top dog Hellcat to shame. Read on to find out just how fast Dodge's final gas-powered muscle really is.

C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Versus Dodge Challenger Hellcat

As the video starts, a black Dodge Challenger Hellcat rolls up next to a white C7 Corvette Z06. In typical drag racing fashion, the two cars warm up their tires with a burnout. On paper, the Challenger has more horsepower than the Corvette (707 hp vs 650 hp), but the Chevy is a lot lighter (4,415 lbs. vs 3,524 lbs.).

When the light turns green, the white Z06 gets a big jump on the Challenger and continues its lead until the finish. The Corvette has a 1/4 mile time of 10.69 seconds at 131.04 mph. The Challenger does the 1/4 mile in 11.81 seconds at 124.41 mph.

Moving on to the next race, a black E92 generation BMW 335i comes up next to challenge the Corvette. A stock 335i makes about 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, but we can assume this one isn't stock. The turbocharged inline-6 cylinder engines in these BMWs have a lot of tuning potential, so it could be a decent race against the Corvette.

However, it's not enough to take down the American sports car legend. The Corvette once again gets a much better launch. The BMW does seem to catch up a bit, but the Corvette still takes the victory. The Chevy finishes with a 1/4 mile time of 10.68 seconds at 132.29 mph while the BMW takes 10.94 seconds at 125.09 mph

When Dodge announced the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 recently, they listed some incredible specs. First, the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 now makes 1,025 hp on E85 fuel (900 hp on 91 octane fuel), making it the first production Hemi with over 1,000 hp.

In terms of performance, the SRT Demon 170 does 0-60 in 1.66 seconds. That's not a typo: 0-60 in under 2 seconds. Things get even faster at the drag strip as the SRT Demon 170 gets a 1/4-mile time of 8.91 seconds at 151.17 mph.

Dodge knows how to take things to the next level and they certainly are going out with a bang with their final "Last Call" Challenger model.

For the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, the 170 actually refers to the fuel source. 170 is a reference to alcohol proof, meaning this SRT Demon 170 runs on E85 Ethanol. In fact, in order to achieve the maximum 1,025 hp and 945 lb-ft of torque, the engine requires E85. However, running the car on regular 91-octane gasoline reduces the power to 900 hp and 810 lb-ft of torque.

With a price tag of $100,361 and only about 3,000 units produced, Dodge should have no problem selling them all.
