Watch this 2019 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack 392 take on a 2018 Chevy Camaro SS in a drag race.

Once again, two naturally aspirated engines face off in the quarter-mile. Well, technically the 1/8th-mile as this track doesn’t stretch quite as long, but that’s fine--technology can estimate quarter-mile times based on just half the distance these days.

We have YouTube Racer X to thank for this video taken at the Money Shift event at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, Texas. This event drew a lot of big names, including Stangmode and Demonology. Everyone came in their drag racer to show off and show up the other contestants, and Mrs. X in her Challenger Scat Pack was no exception.

Her opponent was a 2018 Camaro SS. This is before the controversial front fascia change for the 2019 model that was immediately reversed in the 2020 model. The Camaro’s power plant remained unchanged through each of these years, it being the 6.2-L LT1 V8 shared with the Corvette Stingray. Power is rated at 455 horses and 455 lb-ft with zero to sixty taking just over 4 seconds.

Meanwhile, Mrs. X sports a 6.4-L HEMI V8 with 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. Zero to sixty takes 4.3 seconds as the Challenger is a much heavier car at 4,440 lbs, but it does come with some drag race-specific technology like launch control, line lock, and what Dodge calls an "anti-spin rear differential."

It also comes with 4-piston Brembo brake calipers and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Of the two cars, the Challenger is by far the superior drag racer, but the Camaro has a much better power-to-weight ratio.

The first race between these two ends in no contest as Mrs. X breaks the starting beams. However, the second race is a neck-and-neck nailbiter that’s way too close to call. Luckily, we have technology able to make the call for us.
