It was heavily expected that the new 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat would be in great demand. It seems expectations met reality when the customer order book for the Durango SRT Hellcat was so quickly filled that Dodge had to close it. Nonetheless, there's still a small window of opportunity to own the most powerful SUV in the world.

According to Tim Kuniskis, Dodge Brand and Interim Chrysler Brand CEO at the newly formed Stellantis, all dealer allocations for the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat have already been reserved. This prompted Dodge to declare that the Durango SRT Hellcat production is now officially sold out since the order book was opened in November 2020.

As the brand had announced last year, only 2,000 units of the Durango SRT Hellcat will be built and sold. While this basically means that the every Durango SRT Hellcat has been spoken for, there still might be dealers that have available units (or unsold orders) as allocated. Interested customers need to look for these unsold dealer orders if they're aching to drive home a new Durango SRT Hellcat.

Limiting Production To The Durango Hellcat Special

But why limit the production of the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat to 2,000 units and to a single model year? Kuniskis has the answer. He remarked that doing so would ensure that the 2021 Durango Hellcat will be a very special, sought-after performance SUV even in the years to come.

Indeed, the 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat is a special SUV, mainly thanks to its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V-8 engine. This mill sends up to 710 hp of output and 645 lb.-ft. of torque to the wheels via a quick-shifting TorqueFlite 8HP95 eight-speed automatic transmission. It can zoom from nil to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 mph. It's also certified by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) as able to complete a quarter mile in just 11.5 seconds.
