The very last Dodge Viper and Challenger SRT Demon were sold at auction for $1 million.

Fiat Chrysler called it “The Ultimate Last Chance,” a descriptive name for the auction that sold the last 2017 Dodge Viper and 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon to roll off the assembly line. Evidently, FCA’s marketing team was all on vacation when this auction needed a pithy name.

All criticisms of naming conventions aside, the auction was a professional affair. Sold alongside classic cars and restored beauties at Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction in Connecticut over four days, the combined 1,485 of Dodge horsepower produced some “spirited” bidding, according to their press release.

After less than two minutes of an overworked auctioneer rattling off ever-increasing numbers, the Viper/Demon combo was sold for a cool million to noted Dodge collector and evidently rich dude Dan Snyder. Dan has a collection of over 70 cars, including 30 Vipers and Hellcats, and now two Demons, per DodgeGarage.com.

Dan didn’t just get the last Viper and Demon to roll off their respective production lines. He also got a memorabilia package stuffed with such items as “authentication kits for each vehicle containing custom build sheets, authenticity letters, certification cards, iPads with videos and pictures, and other custom branded items.”

100 percent of the sale price was donated to United Way who will use the funds to assist families in need throughout the community. Priorities include access to education, workforce development, as well as access to healthy foods.

As for what Dan will do with the cars, he’s apparently going to store them in his garage and care for them as the priceless artifacts they’re sure to become. Although he did admit that the two cars would probably be “driven on occasion,” otherwise the collected car enthusiasts would have been in open revolt.

The two cars combined would have retailed for around $250,000, so unless the memorabilia section was filled with bars of gold this is quite the boon for United Way. It’s too bad that this is likely to be the very last Viper every built, as FCA has revealed they have no plans to create a sixth generation snake car.
