It’s the matchup we’ve all been waiting for. The world’s fastest SUV takes on the world’s fastest muscle car in drag race action.
This is it. The mother of all drag races. The Dodge Demon is by far the king of the ring, the lord of the strip, the grand poobah of acceleration. It’s 6.2-L HEMI V8 is supercharged to produce 840 hp and 770 lb-ft of torque (when fed a steady diet of 100 octane racing fuel) and allows the Demon to pop a wheelie off the line.
It also lets it accelerate from zero to sixty in just 2.3 seconds. That’s hypercar territory.
On a prepared drag strip with drag radial tires and a special Demon Crate ECU chip installed, the Demon can run a quarter-mile in just 9.65 seconds. Admittedly, that’s the fastest time ever recorded and many amateur racers have difficulty getting it under 10 seconds, but Demonology is no amateur.
Demonology has crushed dozens, perhaps hundreds of opponents thanks to his specially tricked-out ride, but never has he faced a foe such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
And for good reason. The Trackhawk possesses the engine of the Demon’s little brother, the Hellcat. That means 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque powering a vehicle that weighs over 1,000 lbs more than the Demon. It’s capable of speeds hitherto unseen by SUVs, but it’s still nothing in comparison to a Demon.
Still, should be fun to see these two race, right?
Both Demon and Trackhawk get a good start off the line, but the Demon’s start was perhaps a little bit more explosive. Demonology catapults from a standstill so fast it makes the Trackhawk seem downright sedate. In truth, the Trackhawk is trying its best, but it just doesn’t have the Demon’s power.
Sadly, our Trackhawk gets crushed in no uncertain terms. We’re never provided a specific final race time, but judging by the Boeing 747-sized gap between the two vehicles at the finish line, it probably doesn’t really matter anyway.
