Dodge Durango Hellcat Drag Races Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 AMG S

The Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 AMG S stickers for $117,050. That is considerably more than the $55,800 base MSRP of the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350. But that price premium reflects a significant bump in power. The GLE 350 has a four-pot motor only good for 255 horsepower. In comparison, the GLE 63 AMG S sports a 4.0-liter Biturbo V8 rated at 603 horsepower.

The Dodge Durango Hellcat comes equipped with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. This motor is also available in the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, Charger Hellcat, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

Just like with the Mercedes, upgrading to the most powerful engine in the Dodge also comes with a significant bump in price. The Durango Hellcat starts at $82,490, which is more than double the price of a base model Dodge Durango SXT. The Durango Hellcat's MSRP is also higher than that of the Hellcat versions of the Charger and Challenger. But neither of those cars has all-wheel-drive or seating for seven people.

The Results Of Drag And Roll Races: Evenly Matched

The first race begins from a dig with the Dodge Durango Hellcat in track mode and the Mercedes GLE 63 AMG S in race mode. The two cars are neck-and-neck throughout most of the race, and then the Mercedes pulls away at the end to finish the 1/4 mile race less than one second faster than the Dodge.

The second race also begins from a standing start. This time, the Durango leaps out in front at the start of the race and maintains the lead all the way to the finish line. It is a conclusive win for the Dodge Durango Hellcat.

So it comes down to a roll race to determine the overall winner of the matchup between these two high-powered SUVs. The race begins with each car rolling at 50kph. The Dodge and the Mercedes find themselves in a dead heat until the Dodge ekes out a very slight lead at the end.

The results indicate that the Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 AMG S and Dodge Durango Hellcat are so evenly matched that driver skill and reaction times can affect the outcomes of any races between them.
