Watch a heavily modified Dodge Durango SRT Pursuit take on a Jeep Trackhawk for quarter-mile supremacy.

Last we heard from this particular Dodge Durango, it was handily sweeping the SUV class at One Lap of America. “Speed Trap”, as it had been lovingly nicknamed, was designed to defend Fiat Chrysler’s win at last year’s competition, and to that end, SRT engineers pulled out all the stops.

First, they tossed the old 6.4-L HEMI for a supercharged 6.2-L HEMI from a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye. That gives the Durango Pursuit 797 hp as opposed to the original 475 it came with. Oh, and did we mention it’s based on the police cruiser model? Hence the flashers mounted on the roof.

Other modifications include a stainless steel cat-back exhaust, custom springs lowered 0.6-inches, larger Brembo vented brakes with 6-piston calipers in the front and 4-pistons in the rear, as well as 20x11-inch wheels taken from a Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody. Put it all together and you’ve got what might be the fastest SUV on the planet.

But how would this Durango handle itself against FCA’s other fast SUV, the Jeep Trackhawk?

Probably fairly well. The Trackhawk also borrows a Hellcat engine, but it’s the original Hellcat with 707 hp, which is obviously less than the Redeye. It also doesn’t toss out the rear rows of seats for additional lightness. It does have big Brembo brakes, but that won’t really help it in a drag race.

Both Durango and Trackhawk come with an 8-speed automatic transmission, so the winner will be determined strictly by which vehicle is the fastest.

Check out the video above to see how well the Durango performed. We’re not going to spoil it for you, but the numbers tell a tale that’s hard to overcome.

If you were wondering how well Speed Trap is going, Dodge Garage reports that they’re well ahead of the next fastest SUV to take first in their class, while the One Lap of America standings has them 16th overall.

And just as a little added bonus, here’s the Durango launching into the autocross course. You’re welcome
