The Hellcat name has been a part of Dodge for many years, but things look set to be changing fast. A report from Motor Authority states that from the end of 2023 onwards, the Hellcat name will be no more, with Dodge and Stellantis dropping it in favor of the all-electric muscle car that is coming in 2024.

The report from Motor Authority includes an interview with Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis from the 2021 LA Auto Show. Kuniskis confirmed to the publication that, regarding the Hellcat, “There are two more years to buy a Hellcat, then it's history." This paints a clearer picture of the future of the Stellantis brand, as Dodge focuses on new platforms and cars from 2024 onwards.

Motor Authority was able to see a 24 Months of Muscle calendar style card that Dodge has used to set out the roadmap to 2024. The card has 26 garage doors, with four already revealed and the final reveal should be the 2024 all-electric Dodge muscle car. The concept for this muscle car should, hopefully, appear at some point in 2022.

The first quarter of 2022 should be when we see the concept of the 2024 electric muscle car. This won’t just be a mock-up either, with it set to be a full-on working example of the muscle car and with the high level of performance possible.

By that time, we will also learn of the electric muscle cars' specifications and performance stats, and Motor Authority quotes Kuniskis as saying that Dodge is planning to “do electrification different than everybody else.” Dodge is patenting a lot of electric technology, so we will watch further developments on that front with keen interest.

Switching back to the Hellcat momentarily, there is no word as of yet as to which car will bring the curtain down on the Hellcat story. Kuniskis did at least confirm there would be no Hellcat Chrysler Pacifica, despite a lot of calls to Hellcat the car. But that simply won’t happen.

A plug-in hybrid Dodge will be coming through at some point, and apparently, a third big reveal is also on the way in 2022. When Motor Authority asked what that would be, Kuniskis just smirked and said that we are “going to be excited about it”. Clearly, Dodge’s future could be an incredibly fascinating one.
