The Dodge Viper holds a truly special place in the hearts and minds of many. It's still seen as one of the greatest performance cars ever made. Owning an early example is a dream for many, and this special Carroll Shelby Edition roadster has cropped up on Bring a Trailer. It’s a 1996 Viper RT/10 and one of just 19 Shelby editions, built by Fitzgerald Motorsports in the late 1990s, making it a rare model of the Viper. It is currently located in Tampa, Florida, and has just 11,000 miles on the clock.

Shelby Style Exterior Finish

This stunning special edition is in Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue stripes, while also having a few other awesome exterior features. There is a Cobra-style front grille and contoured rear spoiler, as well as there being a Borla rear-exit dual exhaust system. Carroll Shelby emblems and graphics adorn the car, and the Viper also has a striped composite hardtop plus removable side windows, perfect features for a hot, summer's day. Out of a total number of 19 special editions built, this one is number 16.

Custom Details Carry On Inside The Viper

Inside the Viper, we see bucket seats that are in black leather. The custom details continue, with CS logos embroidered onto the seat covers as well as the carpet mats. Given how sparse life in a Viper could be when they were first launched, there are one or two perks to this one. A Sony CD player is a highlight, something that also comes with a trunk-mounted Zapco amplifier. Looking at the glove compartment, the door is, remarkably, signed by Carroll Shelby himself, and it notes that this car is number 16 of 50, despite initial production ending at 19.

The Viper V10 Is Very Much Present

The central feature to any Viper though is that Dodge V10, and that is still present here. The V10 engine features an aluminum block and cylinder head, which were duly upgraded for this Shelby limited edition. The upgrades included a free-flowing air cleaner and exhaust system, plus performance ignition wires. The Bring a Trailer listing states that the car received replacement of performance ignition wires and exhaust, as well as an oil change ahead of its sale. At the time of writing, the bidding stood at $78,500 with a few days still to run.
