Before the Nissan GT-R, there was the Skyline GT-R. No matter which generation they belong to, the GT-R is one of the top high-performance JDM cars. In the United States, the Nissan GT-R has even gained an iconic status.

A 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R is currently on sale at Cars & Bids, and Doug DeMuro has given this mostly unmodified JDM car a review worth its status.

A Japanese-Spec 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R

This 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R is a fourth-generation Japanese-spec Godzilla. The Japanese actually used the ninth generation of the Nissan Skyline as a base for the R33 Skyline GT-R, which is why the interior of the Godzilla looks identical to the standard model. However, Nissan did change a number of details to distinguish the cabin of the R33 Skyline GT-R from that of its standard sibling.

Doug identified some of these GT-R exclusive details such as its GT-R badges, bolstered seats and the floor mats. Since this particular Skyline GT-R is a Japanese-spec sports car, it’s a right-hand-drive unit (titled in Montana) — the locations of its controls could confuse American drivers.

For this model, the gray cabin features cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front sport seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knob, automatic climate control, as well as power-operated windows, locks, and mirrors.

Mostly Factory But With Some Mods

Built nearly 30 years ago, this 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R still features most of its factory equipment, which includes 17-inch wheels, Brembo brake calipers, a rear spoiler, HICAS rear-wheel-steering system, fog lights, and a rear window wiper.

Featuring a Spark Silver Metallic exterior, this Skyline GT-R looks largely original, aside from a few modifications.

The seller of this Skyline GT-R did make some modifications. These include a Nismo gauge cluster, BLITZ NUR-touring catback exhaust, GKTech HICAS delete bar, stainless-steel brake lines, a carbon fiber rear spoiler blade, a Nismo aluminum pedal set, a painted front splitter, as well as a Pioneer head unit.

The replacement odometer currently indicates just over 20,000 miles. However, the previous gauge registered around 3,500 miles prior to the swap.

Legendary RB26 Still Powers This Godzilla

As per Doug, the coolest feature of this 1995 Skyline GT-R is its 2.6-liter twin-turbocharged straight-six RB26 engine that could deliver 276 hp of max output and 271 lb-ft of torque. This mill powers all four wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.

It may not look like it, but this JDM is attracting strong bids, and is currently on $80,000.
