For many years, the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Wagon has been the only high-performance wagon that could be obtained in North America bar one or two challengers. However, that is all set to change with the 2021 Audi RS6 Avant finally heading to North America. Doug DeMuro has been lucky enough to get his hands on this brand new, 590bhp, 590ib-ft torque monster. He borrowed the car from Audi Fletcher Jones, an Audi dealer in Orange Country, Southern California in order to review the car and take a look at its quirks and cool features.

Quirky Headlights

The impending arrival of the RS6 Avant could make 2021 one of the best wagon years yet for Audi. One of its cool quirks are the headlights when you lock the car. When you do that, you have what looks like a headlight dance – the lights acknowledging that you have indeed locked the car and leaving you in no doubt that you can go about your day, or head back into the house. The headlights also flicker gracefully and in a swooping manner when indicating to turn left or to turn right, which is more interesting than just one flash and then off, and so on and so forth.

Something else that’s rather awesome is the aesthetics of the car and the flared fenders that give it a bulging and muscular kind of look. Looking at the power-train, it's a 4.0 liter, twin-turbocharged V8 that, as we mentioned previously, pumps out a staggering 590bhp. That's almost in a sports car or even supercar territory. In addition, looking at the back of the car, the cargo area is massive. It's of course based on the A6 Avant, which has carried over into the RS6 variant.

Legroom And Rear-Cabin Quirks

Inside the car, there's plenty of rear legroom, meaning adults can sit in the back very comfortably. One quirky feature is that the belt buckles are lit up and illuminated, making it easy to find them if you're buckling up at night. Plus, the back has a separate climate control system. Pretty cool, right? Each side has its own system, so you can set your own temperature for the back, from the back. It's pretty cool to have this practicality in a car that has so much performance. It looks like the RS6 Avant really will live up to its expectations in 2021.
