In his latest release, Doug DeMuro – the king of quirks and features – spends more than a half hour focusing on all the little details of the brand new ultra-rare McLaren 765LT supercar. In fact, at no point does he get the chance to drive this big Mac because it's only a pre-production model. That doesn't diminish from the enjoyment though. For a flagship supercar that's not received any of the fanfare of something like the La Ferrari, it probably deserves it considering some of the incredible features and options available.

McLaren Didn't Spare Any Expense

The McLaren 720S is one of the prettiest cars ever made and the 765LT takes all that beauty and adds more muscle. For a company that put its historic Headquarters on sale today, they certainly didn't skimp on the 765LT. It features more power than the 720, 755 horsepower over the original 710. It also pushes the speed quota higher by utilizing an updated transmission that shifts 15 percent faster than the unit in the 720s. You'll need to shift quickly too because the 765LT can reach 124mph in just 7.2 seconds.

While the 720s isn't very old, this 765LT makes it look like it arrived decades ago. Doug highlights the incredible attention to detail inside and out that truly takes this iteration to a whole new level. The seats as well as many other facets of the interior are beautifully appointed in black Alcantara with colorful accented edging throughout. The pop-up and down driver gauge display is still here but the center control stack has been vastly updated to better focus attention on the most important bits of technology and driver settings. The details extend to the skeleton as well though. The steering has been quickened, the width of the vehicle has been widened, and the suspension lowered and made tauter compared to the 720 according to Doug. All of these features combine to make the 765LT a truly breathtaking entry in the McLaren lineup.

Optional Extras Take The 765LT To Another Level

Doug brings out a great point about the McLaren in that you can option this thing to the moon in terms of getting more and more track-focused. Not only can you save five pounds and option it without carpet, but you can get truly utilitarian and option your one of a kind, super-rare 765LT without a radio to save a few pounds. Overall, if completely stripped of the non-essentials, the 765LT can go on a diet so extreme that it loses more than 300 pounds and ends up under 3,000 pounds total. That's exceptionally extreme compared to other supercars like the Maserati MC20 just unveiled yesterday that features a curb weight of 3,240 pounds and doesn't have nearly as much power.
