Drag racing often seems like the best way to compare cars, though the truth is that subtle differences like tires and weather conditions can make more of a difference than popular sports car stats like horsepower and torque. Still, drag races sure are fun, which helps to explain the popularity of the format among streaming channels online. And now, as if to prove how great a day can be when comparing apples to oranges and grapefruits, the YouTube channel Throttle House has taken to a wide-open stretch of tarmac to pit a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette against a Nissan GT-R and a Mercedes-AMG GT63 S.

All The Differences In The World

Coming up with a more spectacular trio of factory sprinters that have so little in common with each other would be a true challenge. First up is the internet's newest darling, the C8 Corvette and its mid-mounted V8 engine, which powers the rear wheels only. With up to 495 horsepower on tap from its naturally aspirated, 6.2-liter mill, the C8 has proven itself capable of taking down much more powerful cars thanks to its impeccable weight distribution and low aerodynamic profile. Next, the Nissan GT-R has been a tried-and-true sprint since its debut way back in 2007, employing a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 and all-wheel drive to lay down serious times off the line.

The GT-R's torque ratings have changed over the years but they've always been so impressive that owners have to worry about blowing their transmissions during hard launches—which is exactly what's happening here. Last but not least comes the most expensive car in the lineup, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupe, which can easily cost more than $200,000 depending on options and offers a 630-horsepoewr BiTurbo V8 under the hood routing power to all four wheels. Watch the clip to see which car manages to pull off the win.
