If you pitch European luxury against Japanese excellence, which do you think will win? YouTube channel Automotive Mike wants to know the answer to this, as he documents a drag race between a Mercedes-Benz and a Toyota Supra somewhere in Europe, and it’s a lot different from what we see in the US.This is a half-mile race at the Zweibrücken Airport in southwest Germany, and it’s a treat to watch as a 900 horsepower Mercedes-AMG GT S, takes on some hefty rivals. The Golden Mercedes-AMG GT S Won Most Of Its Runs

First, it races a blue Acura NSX and emerges the winner with a top speed of 182.93 mph, with the former zooming in at 151.93 mph. The next is a BMW F90, which racks in a top speed of 157.92 mph, something the Mercedes-AMG GT S can easily top with 181.90 mph.

The Audi TT RS 40 Quattro seemed a hot fan favorite, but it too could run up to only 163.03 mph, as opposed to the Mercedes-AMG GT S 184.05 mph top speed.

A Porsche 991.2 managed to break the run of the Mercedes-AMG GT S at a top speed of 198.30 mph, while the golden Merc could only do 184.83 mph.

An interesting race happened between two Mercedes-AMGs, the reigning golden champion, GT S, and a silver GT R Pro. While the former ran at a very cool 184.44 mph, the latter could only do 168.99 mph. Related:Drag Race: Tuned Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Black Series VS. BMW M3 Square Off

Going Up Against A Supra

Just before the Mercedes-AMG GT S went up against an iconic Toyota Supra, it raced against a BMW M3, and clocked its best top speed of 186.03 mph, with the Bimmer doing a 178.43 mph run.

Finally, a white Supra raced the golden Mercedes-AMG GT S and that made for a very thrilling race. The GT S ran at a respectable top speed of 183.19 mph, but the Supra nailed it, at 194.45 mph.

Of course, that still means that the Porsche 911.2 beats out all the others in top speed, proving that German excellence is unmatchable. But when an AMG loses to a Supra, you have to respect Toyota for its prowess and the fact that the Supra is nowhere near as expensive as an AMG, period.
