Is the Ford Bronco Raptor worth $80,000? That’s the question YouTube channel The Fast Lane Car partially answers in a new video. It’s an incomplete look because there’s no behind-the-wheel time during the presentation. Nonetheless, a review of the exterior and interior of Ford’s high-performance SUV is worth a watch.

First Impressions

At an initial glance, the Bronco Raptor looks similar to its lesser stablemates, but there are some differences. A careful eye will spot the 37-inch off-road tires. These are two inches larger than what comes with the Sasquatch package. Other exterior distinctions include a heat extractor on the hood and passive vents on the front fenders.

Viewers then learn that the Bronco Raptor is 9.8 inches wider than other versions which is the same width as the F-150 Raptor. Ford added modified quarter panels and wider fender flares to accommodate the expanded dimensions (and comply with regulations). There are marker lights on the side mirrors, too. Removable metal running boards are also part of the Raptor.

While ordinary Broncos get either a 300-horsepower turbo-four or a turbocharged 330-horsepower V6, the Bronco Raptor borrows a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 from the Ford Explorer ST. But this engine enjoys upgraded turbochargers and other tweaks that push output to 418 ponies and 440 lb-ft of torque. The video points out that this Ford gets a genuine dual exhaust system, not just a pair of tips. The Bronco Raptor also has a unique grille with more openings to allow greater air intake.

We get teased with a few exhaust notes, but we’ll have to wait for another video to see how the Bronco Raptor performs on and off the road.

An exploration of the cabin reveals features that differ little from the other Broncos. Primarily, the disparities come down to Raptor-themed seats and a splash of orange accents. Optional color-matching seatbelts and a carbon-fiber accent package are there, too. The main functional interior upgrade is a more elaborate digital instrument cluster with a graphical drive-mode display.

Wrapping up the video, the presenter questions if the test vehicle’s $80,000 price tag is worth it. He heaps praise on the overall idea of the Bronco Raptor but feels that buying one closer to the $68,500 starting price is a better approach.
