The Mercedes C63 AMG W204 and BMW E92 M3 were two of the most exciting cars back in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Both are now somewhat collectible due to the fact that they are naturally aspirated, becoming more exclusive, and were very good cars indeed.

If you were in the market for a performance car, and you had to pick between an E92 BMW M3 or a Mercedes C63 AMG, which one should you go for? Well, here are five reasons why we'd love an E92 BMW M3 and five why we'd rather have a W204 Mercedes C63 AMG.

10 It Drives Better (We'd Love An E92 M3)

The E92 M3 is a better driver's car, make no mistake. In 2007 when Top Gear tested the RS4, the C63, and the all-new E92 M3 around the Ascari Race Resort, the M3 beat the C63 by 4-seconds. That is a heck of a lot more time in the racing world. Now, the Ascari Race Resort track may not be the most advanced track in the world, but take an E92 M3 and a W204 C63 around, say, Silverstone, the E92 M3 will record a faster time.

BMWs are the ultimate driving machines. Laugh all you want about it, but every gearhead knows that if you want something that drives well, you go for a BMW. It's just so much more precise and agile.

9 It Sounds Better (We'd Rather Have A C63 AMG)

The E92 M3 sounds fantastic. However, it is no match for the evil C63 AMG. That M156 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 sounds incredible. It doesn't sound as exotic as the M3, but it sounds so much more aggressive and scary, which is what you want from a V8.

You don't even need an upgraded exhaust on the C63, either. Sure it is pretty cool and all, but even stock, this car sounds better than 90% of cars out there. It truly is one of the best-sounding cars ever created, and it is a huge shame that modern cars won't sound anywhere near as good as the W204 C63.

8 It's Easier To Handle (We'd Love An E92 M3)

The E92 M3 has less torque than the C63, and it's also a tad smaller. The C63 W204 is very tail-happy and can even alarm some of the most experienced drivers as in some conditions it can be somewhat unpredictable. The M3 is also in some ways unpredictable, but it's not as bad as the C63.

The M3 just feels so much more planted and nimble. As mentioned before, the M3 was a faster car around the track, and the reason why is because it is easier to handle.

7 It's Nicer Inside (We'd Rather Have A C63 AMG)

The E92 M3 is very nice inside., however, the W204 C63 is far superior. Take the pre-facelift car with its pop-up screen, which was just so classy and elegant. The facelift cars had a fixed screen like the E92 M3, yet everything looked and felt so much more high-end.

The coupe model is the most luxurious body style of the C63, since you get comfier seats. In all honesty, though, all the body styles of C63 have a very nice interior, and they're all quite similar.

6 The DCT Gearbox Is Better For Car Enthusiasts (We'd Love An E92 M3)

Gold-Wrap-E92-BMW-M3-2-1

The DCT gearbox offered in the E92 M3 is fantastic. The E92 M3 was the first-ever M car to utilize the M-DCT transmission manufactured by Getrag. It's a dual-clutch transmission, and it is very fast. The C63 utilizes the 7G-Tronic AMG Speedshift gearbox which is a very good gearbox. However, it is nowhere near as good as the DCT system.

The DCT was the icing on the cake for the E92 M3. It was paired to a fantastic engine that loved to be revved, plus it was also a pretty strong gearbox too. It did make the E92 M3 feel just that extra bit more special to drive.

5 It's More Comfortable (We'd Rather Have A C63 AMG)

The E92 M3 isn't an uncomfortable car, but at the end of the day, it's not that comfortable either. The C63, on the other hand, is a heck of a lot smoother. Mercedes has always made their cars more comfortable, regardless of whether it's a more performance-oriented vehicle.

The C63 is also a lot larger inside, so there is more room to move about. In all honesty, the E92 M3 is a tad cramped. You can get the E90 sedan model but even then it isn't as spacious or as comfortable as a C63 sedan.

4 Cheaper On Gas (We'd Love An E92 M3)

The big 6.2-liter in the C63 drinks gas like there's no tomorrow. The M3 also has a drinking problem, but it's not as bad as the C63. The smaller 4-liter unit is a tad more economical, so if that's what you're into, then good news. The S65 V8 unit in the M3 is a derivative of the S85 V10 used in the E60 M5.

Gas prices are increasing, so maybe this is something to think about. None of these two cars are cheap to run, but the M3 is less on gas since it has a smaller engine and a slightly higher MPG. But hey, both these cars are measured in smiles per gallon rather than miles per gallon.

3 It Looks Better (We'd Rather Have A C63 AMG)

The E92 M3 is a great-looking car, however, we tend to find in some specs it looks dated, The c63 on the other hand regardless of the spec it looks timeless. Mercedes during the W204 C63 period were making some of their best-looking cars yet, and the C63 proves that. BMW on the other hand was making some of their worst-looking cars yet however, the E92 M3 is an exception since it is pretty stylish.

The C63 AMG looks best in either wagon or coupe form. The wagon looks so timeless, whilst the coupe looks effortlessly stylish. The wheel offerings, too, are also far better-looking than those offered on the E92 M3.

2 It Comes As A Manual (We'd Love An E92 M3)

via fastcar.co.uk

Want a manual C63? Well, you can't, and you wouldn't want to, as Mercedes manuals are not very good at all. BMW manuals, on the other hand, are the second-best in the business (after Porsche). The manual E92 M3 is an absolute gem, and they are seriously going up in value.

The manual box offered on the E92 M3 is a 6-speed. It's got an M knob on it and the overall feel is pretty good. Most pre-LCI models were manual. It is very rare to find an LCI model in manual configuration, though they do exist.

1 It's More Powerful (We'd Rather Have A C63 AMG)

The M3 has 414hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The C63 has 451hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. Get the performance pack, and you get 480hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. Get a Black Series or 507 models, and you get over 500hp and over 450 lb-ft of torque. Safe to say, that's way more than the E92 M3.

c63-3038

The E92 M3 should've had more horsepower. Nevertheless, it still was faster around the track than both the RS4 and C63. The C63 though is a hooligan's car and is ten times more times fun. Hence, why we'd prefer a C63 over an M3 any day of the week.
