The guys over at Top Gear and The Grand Tour have always been known for their inside jokes and subtle humor in nearly every episode for well over 20 years. This trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have always made the audience laugh while providing some of the best automotive content on TV.

There are a ton of things that go into each of the shows, however, sometimes we don't see every last bit of humor at first. This is what we are going to go into today. We will be taking a look at Easter eggs from each of the shows Top Gear and The Grand Tour and giving a bit of insight into some things you might have missed.

Fortunately there are plenty to go around, however, we've broken it down to 10 of each from the shows. Some things you might see at first, and some might be a bit more subtle, however, each of them is equally as funny no matter what sense you look at them. We are going to breakdown some of the funniest moments that you may have never caught during the filming of Top Gear and The Grand Tour in Easter egg form. To begin we are going to go into 10 Easter eggs from Top Gear that you may have missed.

19 Credits Easter Egg

Via Reddit

There is always something special in most movies for those who wait through the entire credits, the same goes for the Top Gear series. While in the credits, there have been countless times to where they have placed funny things in the credits for us to find.

From the extra brave film cameras to sounds by Ferrari, there is always something special that you can find in the Top Gear credits, we can only hope by the time you get there you've already had enough laughs to get the Easter eggs.

18 The Stig Photocopies Himself

Via Reddit

This one is a bit brief, but if you look closely you will see right passed Richard Hammond. In the background of this, you can see the practical joker in The Stig, going ahead and making copies of his helmet.

This has been an ongoing joke for the longest time in offices around the world with the copy machine, and The Stig has struck again. This time he isn't saving paper, he is making sure he gets the last laugh out of the bunch.

17 Jeremy's Fiat

Via Imgur

An ongoing game that is played, or was played a ton when the Top Gear crew was together for filming was actual car soccer. The teams would be formed and they would actually play soccer with little Fiat 500 rides on an actual field.

This was a really difficult one to notice at first, but you can see this is Jeremy's car for the game, and it isn't quite the Fiat anymore, someone might have got to it before he even had the chance to start the match.

16 Top Sport Test E

Via Imgur

Now this one might be a bit different than most of the Easter eggs we have found for the list today. But in Top Gear, there has never been any boundaries to what you could or could not say or refer to. This time the test environment might have been purposely placed on the sign that way.

Take a close look on the left portion of the sign, and put it all together. This one might not be as obvious, but it is certainly something that is funny and cannot be a coincidence that it is laid out that way either.

15 Catering Huh?

Via Reddit

While at first glance this might simply look like the producers are going out and getting some food on a break, but this frame is placed way too perfect for it to be something that isn't on purpose. However, you might not see it at first.

Check out the guy at the window, and how his legs are strategically placed for this frame. Now go ahead and read the website that is listed there, coincidence, I think not. Especially for professionals who always make jokes, this is too good.

14 The Stig's Star Wars Reference

Via Porsche Christophorus

The Stig is a mysterious character that you know and love from the show. However, there are always subtle things that he's done that make us laugh, from the blank looks to body language, and even his soundtrack while racing, Stig is hilarious.

However, something that he did on social media was even better, he actually commented during an interview: "-.-. .... . .— .. . —..— / .— . .——. .-. . / .... —- — . .-.-.-." Which this actually in Morse code translates to "Star Wars a Force Awakens." This may have been subtle, but some say he got us again, all we know is he's called The Stig.

13 What Type of System?

Via Reddit

While a lot of these can be seen as something that the guys are a bit immature about, you have to admit it is funny after all. This one was when the crew decided to build vehicles for assisting traffic in case of emergencies.

As you can see the Traffic Urgent Rerouting and Dispersal System is simply called the "Turds." Now if that isn't something that is funny, I don't know what is. Besides this is Jeremy's that he made for the show, so it has to be something that has humor in it.

12 Top Gear in VIR Assetto Corsa

Via Reddit

This is something that was extremely hard to spot, but when you do it will surely be an Aha moment for you. Assetto Corsa is a racing simulation game that has extensive ability to drive and race real feeling cars, which is why it is a simulator.

However, this gem was spotted on the VIR track, on top of the balcony of one of the houses you can see Jeremy and James May standing there overseeing the track. This isn't something that you just put there just because you want it to be found and it was a gem indeed.

11 The Stig on Google Maps

Via Donlines Blog

By far one of the funniest things that has been done on Top Gear is actually having The Stig racing for the Google Maps photos that are placed online for the Top Gear Studio. Not to mention you can see him in the car in all of the photos.

This goes to show that you can be lighthearted with your humor without doing anything too crazy. However, most car enthusiasts will get this one as Top Gear is widely popular among those who of course love cars, and besides The Stig is a legend.

10 Clarkson in front of BBC

Via Digital Spy

It is a widely known ordeal that a big reason that the original Top Gear crew left the show is that of Jeremy Clarkson's issues with BBC. Not only did they severely restrict what his vision for the show was, but limited what they could do.

This is actually in one of the first scenes in The Grand Tour, Clarkson outside of the BBC waiting to go on the journey that is The Grand Tour. Not to mention creating an even bigger vision that he had for the show, now with Amazon Prime.

9 One Direction

Via Pinterest

This might not have been one of the most known references or pictures at that, but One Direction traveled with the Top Gear crew when they were still filming the original Top Gear. However, James May can be seen here actually seemingly promoting One Direction.

Or is he? There isn't much else to take away from this Easter egg, but we do know that there was something going on between James May and the One Direction crew, who knows maybe he actually was a big fan?

8 Mad Max

Via Digital Spy

Let's just say that the first episode was full of these Easter eggs. This one is actually a Mad Max reference basically showing that they've gone on their own and are starting something bigger.

Little did the audience know that they were actually heading to the traveling tent which was The Grand Tour's headquarters that traveled around the world. This one was another jab at the BBC since they were at this point going full rebellion against what they otherwise would have had for the show.

7 The California Backdrop

Via Digital Spy

This was something that they didn't subtly put in the show. The backdrop is indeed the California desert, however, what they did in the desert there was the Easter egg. From having things happen to celebrities to explosions, there was always something happening.

Being that this was seemingly unpredictable was another jab at BBC since the shows were very structured when they were filming Top Gear, and mostly had the same segments every time for many years.

6 Guest Stars

Via Digital Spy

One of the funniest things about the Easter eggs in The Grand Tour is the guest stars. Now at first, it might just seem that they are just doing these funny things just to create humor, but it actually has an underlying meaning as well.

If you've noticed that a lot of times The Grand Tour ends up getting slightly less known celebrities at first, and makes something happen to the others that attempt to come on the show. This is because they were indeed turned down by some of these people due to BBC, so yet another blow at them.

5 Welcome to the Netherlands

Via Reddit

Here is something that is quite funny, even if it is slightly subtle. You have to take a look at the sign that was made for the crew when they were headed to the Netherlands. Notice anything funny?

In fact, it really isn't the trio, it is Clarkson, Hammond, and Made. This is an ongoing theme to the shows that these three are a part of, they always find ways to pick on one another in the subtle ways, even if the audience might not see it at first, it is still something really funny.

4 Clarkson and Tesla

Via Teslarati

This is something that is pretty deep in understanding why this is humorous. Believe it or not, Jeremy Clarkson actually reviewed a Tesla around when they were first introduced to the market and absolutely bashed the car, since then Tesla banned the cars from being reviewed by him.

Luckily enough, they allowed him to review the new Model X that they were releasing shortly after. The amount of bad material during that segment is enough to make you laugh, but understanding why the entire thing was a joke is even funnier than you would think.

3 Richard on Crutches

Via GTSpirit

Most might not have known at this point that Richard Hammond was in a really bad accident during the filming of one of the episodes. Here is a bit of an Easter egg in foreshadowing what happened to Richard.

Here they were actually in the States to where Clarkson was reviewing and driving the new Ford GT at the time, and the other two had to take public transportation to beat him to the border. Unfortunately, because we didn't know why Hammond was on crutches at that point, it was funny just because it was hard for those two.

2 The Loch Ness Monster

Via Reddit

Like most of the other backdrops that the crew had on the show, there is always something funny that goes on while nobody is paying attention. This time there were on the banks of the legendary lake Loch Ness.

There is a legend of the Loch Ness Monster that dwells in the lake and has never truly been captured on film. This was something that was funny at the time, as during the segment nobody should have been paying attention to the backdrop, but there was Nessie in the flesh, behind the trio.

1 Richard Hammond's Influence on Design

Via Motor1

This is something that is a bit more unique than you might think. While we just found that Richard was into a bad accident, it was actually an all-electric car that lost control, flipped and burned within the cabin.

Well, the company took note of the flaws during that crash, and actually improved the car. So we can say this Easter egg happened because of Richard Hammond, and he actually influenced the design of a car simply because he crashed one during the filming of The Grand Tour.
