Any car that bears Hollywood celebrity provenance automatically steps up to a new level of value. Just look at the famous Steve McQueen Bullitt Mustang that set an auction record in early 2020 (a record later broken only by a prototype Shelby racecar—a whole different level of automotive fame that became mixed up with Hollywood in the 2019 biopic Ford v Ferrari). Another example comes in the form of Paul Walker's various generations of the BMW M3. But what about a car that's downright notorious due to its celebrity provenance? Well, the YouTuber Ed Bolian just revealed on VINwiki that he's bought the most famous (or infamous, depending on your viewpoint) Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren on the planet.

Belonged To Paris Hilton But Made Famous By Britney Spears

Speaking of viewpoints, while the Gullwing-inspired supercar was formerly owned by Paris Hilton it became famous because of the unfortunate angle of a paparazzi shot that revealed far too more of Britney Spears than any member of the general public should have ever seen.  The car actually contributed to the incident with a wide sill and a door that does not block a front view of someone exiting.

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren's Story

The video comes across as half an advertisement for the automotive detailing product Gloss It, and half a fortuitous narrative revealing how Bolian ended up buying the car. Any SLR McLaren deserves quite a bit of attention, thanks to the aggressively retro-futuristic exterior styling that hints at the supercharged V8 mounted well behind the front axle and pumps out up to 617 horsepower when running on 13 pounds of boost.

This Seat Was The Scene Of The Crime

Bolian caught word of this SLR thanks to fellow YouTuber Tyler Hoover (of Hoovie's Garage) who sent him an auction listing, stating he, himself was unable to bid on due to having recently purchased a couple of Lamborghinis. Bolian purchased the car in partnership with Rich Light, the CEO of Gloss It, with whom Bolian had become familiar while driving a different SLR McLaren on the Gold Rush Rally.   After the purchase, Bolian had the car detailed for a full 100 hours with Gloss It products.

Up next, is adding to the relatively high count of 21,000 miles on the clock, though whether any passengers will want to sit in the seat that was the scene of the crime remains a legitimate question.
