Drag racing has been long part of American auto culture. Nevertheless, Europe is quite already into it. It's a race to find out which car is quicker to complete a certain distance. America's tuned 2020 Chevrolet C8 Corvette recently went up against a quick-accelerating 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo S of Germany. Which performance vehicle will prevail? Perhaps, Hoonigan and YouTuber Emelia Hartford can show us.

Which Car Is Quicker: Porsche Or GM?

Both of these cars are really quick and fast. Even in stock form, the C8 Corvette—now mid-engined for the first time—is a top-class sports car that can outsprint almost any car on the road. The same should be true for Cody Mullenaux's stock Taycan Turbo, which boasts 670 hp of output and 774 lb-ft of instant torque.

Emelia's C8 Corvette is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine and a triple piggyback ECU tune. A stock version is already quick because of the C8 Corvette's lightweight nature; Emelia's drive offers 750 hp of whopping output. Combining that power with a light sports car translates to quickness and speed. Emelia has already proven that by breaking the record for the quickest twin-turbo C8 Corvette in the quarter mile.

C8 Corvette Was Expected To Win

In terms of both power and weight, Emelia's C8 Corvette had the advantage. But in terms of sprinting traction, the Taycan Turbo can't be underestimated due to its AWD system and the instant toque from its motors.

The first run is a head-to-head race to 1,000 ft. As expected, the Taycan Turbo took the lead in the first half. The C8 Corvette tried catch up but it was already too late as they already reached the finish line.

The second run was a different story, however. Since the C8 Corvette could easily catch up with the Taycan Turbo through 1,500 ft, they decided to do a hit, where Emelia would only press the pedal once she sees the Taycan Turbo take off. The race resulted inn the C8 Corvette winning.

In the third round, they had another head-to-head race to 1,000 ft. While the Taycan Turbo still sprinted ahead, this time Emelia won but by a very slim margin.
