The Classic Chevy Mustang

This Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a re-imagining of the classic done by the famous Roadster Shop. Upon looking under the hood we can see a 428 with Cobra Jet written on the valve covers. This, however, as John tells us is not a 428 that would have come with the car. Instead, it features a Chevy LS7 out of a C6 Corvette whose redesign makes it look like the original engine.

John tells us that even his technician was in shock that it is not the original engine. He also informs us that even the shock towers are not real and are there just to look original.

In short, John thinks that although this may anger a few people. The point of the build is to create something that takes new technology, safety, comfort, and power and put it into something as special and nostalgic as Mach 1. The modern conveniences of today are in the visuals of yesteryear. Otherwise known as a restomod, this is actually not uncommon.

The LS7, while a Chevy engine, is still a powerful and very reliable motor. In the end, the car is as John says, the ultimate American car. It has the best of everything America has to offer and the fact that it is in the shop with the European big boys like Ferarri and Lamborghini while still being the highlight speaks volumes.

At the 11:58 mark, John is unlocking the garage door and the tension to hear this car roar to life has built up. Moments later he starts it up and a roar of American grumbles begin to flow from the exhaust. John smiles and says "it's not bad at all" while cracking a smile. Straight out of the gate he revs the car and we can hear the tires squeal. During the test drive, John is really enjoying himself and yells "Wow...what a car!"
