Doug DeMuro is one of the most charismatic automotive YouTubers on the planet. DeMuro has amassed nearly 4.5 million subscribers on his channel, and we all know his specialty. He is of course renowned for pointing out the quirks and features of various automobiles, highlighting their good points and pointing out one or two things that don’t quite work. His reviews have become legendary and of course he has his own car auction site at Cars and Bids, where many quirky vehicles are akk sold with comments from Doug himself.
DeMuro is though fundamentally a lover of automobiles, and he has had quite a few himself over the years. Some of them are interesting and some not so much, but everyone has a car history. In one of the latest videos on his YouTube channel, DeMuro has gone through all the cars he has ever owned and compiled an interesting car history of his. We are going to take a look at some of the highlights of this car history and hear what he has to say about some of the various cars he has had.
The Early Days Of Doug DeMuro's Epic Automotive Journey
DeMuro likes to hear car reviews from people who have had a lot of different cars over the years, and that is exactly how we can sum up the car history of DeMuro. This does help to remove bias, if say, a reviewer has only ever owned cars from say Audi or Chevrolet. The very first car DeMuro owned was a 1996 Volvo 850 Turbo. DeMuro said his parents bought it for him in 2004 for $6,000, and it was a cool car. It had a 222 hp 2.3-liter turbo five-cylinder engine, and an automatic transmission. DeMuro said he loved it and that he drove it everywhere.
The next car that DeMuro owned is one he bought in May 2007, and it was a 2001 Audi A4. A regular A4 with an automatic transmission and a 2.8-liter V6 engine, an engine deemed smooth and reliable, and it had 190 hp. This is also a car that DeMuro loved, but sadly the automatic transmission in it killed it meaning he had to get rid of it in 2010. It looked quite cool in its maroon style dark red color, that did really suit the car, and it's now become quite a desirable color in the B5 A4 community.
The Exotic Collection Of Cars Previously Owned By The YouTuber
We move forward a few years and we see one of DeMuro’s biggest purchases. This is a 2006 Lotus Elise in Chrome Orange, a car he bought in the summer of 2011. This follows on from a car that he still owns which is a 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500E. Back to the Lotus meanwhile, and DeMuro actually bought it in San Jose, California and he drove it all the way to Atlanta. He regrets that decision mainly because the car didn’t have air-conditioning, which he did fix when he got home.
He wasn’t keen on the car because it was a bit too fragile, and he sold the car on later on in its life. The car now has some 85,000 miles on it, so it is great to hear that the car is still going strong. The next car he bought was the 2004 Cadillac CTS-V, the V1, with a manual transmission and a 6.0-liter V8 engine. Amazingly, this car was actually bought off someone who was being deported, and thus DeMuro got this car on the cheap. And the former owner left a racing helmet in the back that DeMuro used right up until 2021.
The Time DeMuro Found His Old AMG Back In Atlanta
We are further down the line again and one of the next cars DeMuro had was a Mercedes-AMG Station Wagon. The only ones he could afford in 2012 were the original E55s and the E63s. He did eventually find one too, in the Indiana area, and after the owner returned from a holiday in Hawaii, DeMuro owned the car. It’s a car that he really loved, and a rare one too, although he got hit in it twice. DeMuro again came across the car in Atlanta quite recently, and it was something he could not quite believe.
This Is The Car DeMuro Regrets Selling The Most
DeMuro really does have an incredible car history. Another car he owned was a green 1995 Range Rover, the last year of the long-wheel base version, but it was a car that caused DeMuro so many problems. He did eventually sell it off, although he feels it is a mistake to sell it as he did put a lot of money in it, and it was a car he did actually like. There are plenty of other great cars featured in this video that DeMuro has owned that are absolutely worth checking out.
