The Ford Motor Company has announced its new Ford+ strategy. The American auto giant will transform itself and split the brand into two divisions — Ford Model E and Ford Blue. Both brands will operate as separate business units. The Model E Division will focus on all-electric vehicles, while Ford Blue will predominantly manage all work related to traditional combustion-powered vehicles. Ford claims that this brand split will allow the company to compete more effectively against new EV competitors and established legacy automakers. However, let's focus on what Ford Blue’s operations will entail specifically. Here is everything you need to know about the Ford Blue division.

Ford has categorized the Ford Blue brand as the stable for its "icons". The Ford Blue model line will include the F-Series pickup trucks, Ranger, Maverick, Bronco, Explorer SUVs, and the legendary Ford Mustang.

Ford Blue and Ford Model E divisions will continue to collaborate on developing new technologies and using them for both product families. However, Ford Blue will also enjoy the freedom to develop new vehicles independently of the other division.

Furthermore, Ford Blue will focus on customer relations in terms of experience and service. They will also spearhead the development of technologies and capabilities for off-road vehicles like the Bronco and street performance cars like the Mustang. Rumors suggest that Ford plans to keep an ICE-powered Mustang around for some time. We may even see another generation of the iconic pony car. The sun has not set on Ford's combustion engines just yet.

Ford Blue will also be in charge of cleaning up after itself. The team will help in developing ways of recycling, reducing material waste, minimizing costs for product and manufacturing. It will be in charge of maintaining the Ford brand’s production scale around the world.

Why Is Ford Splitting Up The brand

Ford model e vs Ford Blue Divisions Everything You need to know

For this new split brand strategy, Ford is making a huge investment into both entities. While some of the investment has been directed towards the Model e’s EV venture, Ford will not cease the development of combustion engines as yet for specific segments and products.

Ford Blue will be the company’s profit-generating brand that will help fund the development of future EV technologies. The ICE power division will fund EV development for the immediate future.

Instead of spinning off its electric car ventures into a new brand entirely, both brands will co-exist under the larger Ford Motor Company umbrella. This keeps everything under one corporate structure and allows for easier communication between Ford Model E and Ford Blue. As a part of the company’s management restructuring, Kumar Galhotra has been appointed as President for Ford Blue. Stuart Rowley and Hau Thai-Tang will take on new global roles to support Ford’s transformation. Jim Farley will serve as president of Ford Model e while also managing his current position as president and CEO of the Ford Motor Company.
